Well, it doesn’t get much bigger than this for a Sunday Night Football game. The Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles make up one of the NFL’s best rivalries even when they aren’t particularly good, but the matchup is especially intriguing 5 weeks into this season with the NFC East representatives a combined 9-1 (Dallas 4-1, Philadelphia 5-0). The Eagles will put their undefeated record on the line once again this weekend, while the Cowboys are hoping to extend their winning streak with Cooper Rush as the starting quarterback.

Dallas Cowboys vs Philadelphia Eagles expert picks
We have 3 NFL picks for this week’s clash between Dallas and Philadelphia. Let’s take a look.
Against the spread pick: Eagles -6 (-110) over Cowboys
Cooper Rush has impressed in his time filling in for Dak Prescott, but the opposing defenses he has faced so far are the Bengals, Giants, Commanders and Rams. All are outside the top 8 in schedule adjusted efficiency, with Cincinnati being the best of the bunch. The Cowboys scored only 20 points against the Bengals – the lowest output of Rush’s season so far, with 17 of the 20 coming in the first half. Needless to say, this will be a big step up in class on the road in a hostile divisional environment against an Eagles defense ranked 3rd in schedule adjusted efficiency. On the other side, it will be fascinating to see what Dallas DC Dan Quinn comes up with this week against a very different QB than the one he faced last week with in a somewhat immobile Matthew Stafford. Jalen Hurts has compiled 1,322 rushing yards and 19 TDs through his first 24 games, breaking Cam Newton’s all-time QB scoring record of 18 TDs in 25 games. Hurts has also rushed for 22 first downs this season – the most in the NFL. The issue with defending this Eagles team is you can’t safely put an extra man in the box to try to spy Hurts because of the dangerous weapons Philly has on the outside with DeVonta Smith and AJ Brown.

Over/Under totals pick: Over 42 (-110)
This matchup has been high-scoring of late, with 3 straight H2H games sailing over the total. Last year’s 2 games produced 139 points. That suggests neither team will be afraid to run up the score if the opportunity presents itself. Hurts’ legs have been the toughest part of the Eagles’ offense to defend this year and he won’t be shy in a primetime rivalry game. Considering both teams are in the top 5 in neutral-situation pace, you can expect a lot of plays to be run in this game – which means there will be plenty of opportunities for scoring.
Player prop bet: CeeDee Lamb, WR, DAL to score a touchdown (+220)
CeeDee Lamb has scored in 2 of the last 3 games. In 4 career contests against Philadelphia he has 2 touchdowns. And it’s not like Rush at quarterback has been any kind of red flag. Both of Lamb’s 2022 TDs have come from Rush and the former Oklahoma standout has been targeted 50 times through 5 weeks. He has not been targeted fewer than 8 times in any game. Although the Eagles’ defense has been very good, 6 passing touchdowns allowed so far is a decent amount. Getting Lamb this far into plus money is a steal.
