One of the best times in sports is upon us. March has arrived, which means the madness is about to begin. We also have the NBA and NHL getting toward the ends of their respective regular seasons. Who needs baseball after all?!?! Okay, it would be nice if that gets going next month…. But for the time being we have enough on our plate.
Let’s take a look at where the public money has gone so far on Thursday.
NBA: Miami Heat -3 over Brooklyn Nets
One of bettors’ favorite plays of the day is on Miami to cover a -3 spread in its road game against Brooklyn. The Heat against the spread are inspiring 81% of the handle and 77% of the bets. And why not? Miami will be a team on a mission following yesterday’s late collapse against Milwaukee and now it visits a Nets squad that will be without Kyrie Irving since this game is in Brooklyn.

NBA: Memphis Grizzlies vs Boston Celtics over 224
There is nothing the public loves more than good over bet, and they have found one – or that is the hope, at least – in the Grizzlies-Celtics game. With 96% of the wagers backing over 224, 89% of the money is doing the same. We can’t disagree given the way Ja Morant and company are pouring in points at the moment. Our NBA expert is on Memphis and the over for this contest.

NHL: Colorado Avalanche -1.5 over Arizona Coyotes
Bettors’ favorite NHL play – or one of them – is on the Avalanche (what’s new?) on the puck line in their road date with the Coyotes. Colorado (-1.5) is being supported by a lofty 94% of the money and 97% of the wagers. The public is also extremely willing to incur -380 juice on the money line. A total of 98% of the handle and 89% of the bets are backing the Avs to win outright.

NHL: Minnesota Wild ML over Philadelphia Flyers
The public also likes Minnesota, which is visiting Philadelphia on Thursday. There is a reasonable enough price on the Wild money line (-210), which can explain punters’ enthusiasm. A total of 86% of the handle and 89% of the bets are hoping for a straight up win by the visitors.
