I'm an NFL handicapper here at Pickswise who was raised in a household full of sports fanatics. Since I unfortunately never had LeBron James' jumping ability I wasn't able to make it to the NBA, and chose writing about sports as the next best thing. An avid sports bettor myself, I'm excited to get to write about the industry as it gets set to take off across the country. Buckle up. The NFL playoffs are winding down and the Super Bowl is rapidly approaching, but basketball and hockey are in full swing and baseball is right around the corner. It’s a lot, and we’re grateful for it. There are some big contests coming up, which always create some big public sides. Let’s take a look at where the public money is going as bettors once again try to beat the ‘books, with the Bulls leading the way on Wednesday.

NBA: Bulls -2 @ Hornets

The Bulls have been one of the best stories in the NBA this season, and they’ve been a lot of fun to watch. Accordingly, the public has jumped on the bandwagon with full force. A total of 85 percent of the bets and a whopping 94 percent of the public money are laying the points with Chicago as a short road favorite here, per DraftKings’ internal numbers shared with us.

This could also be just as much a fade of the Hornets as it is an endorsement of the Bulls. Charlotte has lost five in a row, and a couple of them have been ugly. They’re also now going to be without Gordon Hayward who was just re-sidelined with an ankle injury. This is one of the best matchups on the slate, so be sure to check out our full game preview for Bulls vs Hornets.

NBA: Cavaliers -6.5 vs Spurs

At the beginning of the season not too many people would’ve predicted that Cleveland would become a heavy public side, but here we are. The Cavs have shocked everybody and have looked like one of the best teams in the East. They’ve gone 11-3 in their past 14 games despite dealing with significant injury issues in that span. And now 78 percent of the bets and 80 percent of the public money are backing them on the spread on Wednesday.

It looks like bettors could be banking on Darius Garland making his return from a back injury here. Caris LeVert making his Cavs debut after the trade with Indiana here could also be responsible for this excitement. Head over to our NBA page for our picks on every game tonight!

NHL: Predators @ Stars over 5.5

Nothing the public loves more than a good over. It seems like every day there are a couple of NHL overs that get absolutely pounded, and that’s certainly the case on Wednesday. Most notably here in Dallas as the Stars host the Predators. A total of 84 percent of the bets and 89 percent of the public money are going over this relatively low total of 5.5.

The Stars are usually more of a defensive team but they’ve had a handful of offensive explosions recently, scoring at least five goals in four of their last seven games. Given that, this one isn’t too surprising to see. Dive into our thoughts for all seven games on the ice tonight here.

NCAAB: Baylor -6 @ Kansas State

Wrapping things up now with some college basketball. One of the best games of the slate is this Big 12 showdown between Baylor and Kansas State, and the public sure knows who they like. A total of 75 percent of the bets and a near-unanimous 97 percent of the public money are laying the points with Baylor here.

The gap in those two percentages means the large volume bets have all been coming in on the Bears as well. Baylor has struggled a bit recently, going just 4-4 in their last eight games, so this one is interesting. I’ve got this game as part of my Wednesday college basketball mega parlay with +1107 odds, so you won’t want to miss it.
