The NFL playoffs are winding down, but basketball and hockey are in full swing and baseball is right around the corner. It’s a lot, and we’re grateful for it. There are plenty of crucial contests coming up, which always attract some big public sides. Let’s take a look at where the public money is going as bettors once again try to beat the ‘books, with the some overs leading the way on Tuesday.
NBA: Heat @ Raptors over 210.5
Nothing the public loves more than a good over. And that’s certainly the case in Tuesday, as we start in the NBA. It seems like almost every day bettors look at the NBA slate and find the lowest total on the board and then go over. This game has the lowest total, and the highest amount of bets taking the over, of all the NBA games. 80 percent of the bets and 61 percent of the public money are on the over 210.5, per DraftKings’ internal numbers shared with us.
This one is interesting, because the gap in those two percentages indicates that there have been some large volume bets on the under despite the heavy amount of tickets on the over. Check out our full game preview for Heat vs Raptors to see what side our expert is on!
NBA: Warriors +4.5 @ Spurs
The Warriors have turned back into a huge public side this season, with bettors riding them seemingly every night. Apparently that’s going to be the case even when they’re without their stars. Golden State won’t have Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson or Draymond Green, but apparently that doesn’t matter. 91 percent of the bets and 85 percent of the public money are jumping at the rare chance to grab the Warriors as an underdog.
It shows how hard the Spurs have fallen off that bettors are lining up to fade them here at home against a depleted roster. We’ve got free picks on the side and total of every NBA game today and we just hit our NBA parlay on Monday at +602, so we’re hot right now.
NHL: Flames @ Stars over 5.5
See what I mean about the public and their overs? There are a few overs getting hammered in the NHL on Tuesday, but none more so than this one in Dallas. A whopping 96 percent of the bets and near-unanimous 98 percent of the public money are on the over 5.5 for Flames/Stars.
The Flames have only scored two total goals over their past two games, but in their previous two they had scored 13. Dallas has been on a bit of a roll offensively, scoring at least 3 goals in six of their past seven, so this one isn’t too surprising. We went 4-1 on NHL sides and 4-1 on NHL totals yesterday, so be sure to check out our picks for all of Tuesday’s games on the ice.
NCAAB: #23 Texas #14 Texas Tech over 123
We’re wrapping things up with some college basketball. Why not finish things off with one more over? One of the best college basketball games of Tuesday’s big slate is this Big 12 rivalry showdown between Texas and Texas Tech, and bettors are rooting for plenty of points. A total of 87 percent of the bets and 86 percent of the public money are on Over 123.
Both Texas and Texas Tech are defense-first teams that are top 10 nationally in defensive efficiency according to KenPom, and even that isn’t enough to scare anybody off this over! We’re fading the public on this one and going under. Our full betting preview for the game will tell you why.
