We have another busy day and also a busy week as a whole in the world of sports. A full 15-game schedule in Major League Baseball headlines Wednesday’s action, while Week 3 of the 2021 NFL campaign is on the immediate horizon. A new golf season is also getting underway. Let’s take a look at where the public money has gone so far on Wednesday.

MLB: Houston Astros -1.5 over Texas Rangers

Bettors’ favorite MLB play of the day is on the Astros to win by multiple runs against the Rangers. Houston on the -1.5 run line is inspiring a bloated 95 percent of the handle and 91 percent of the bets. On the money line, the Braves are sizable -210 favorites. The public certainly isn’t scared away by that juice, though. A total of 92 percent of the money and 81 percent of the bets are supporting Houston to win straight up.

MLB: San Francisco Giants ML over San Diego Padres

Bettors are also hammering the Giants in their home date with the Padres. San Francisco on the -110 money line is inspiring 89 percent of the money and 75 percent of the wagers. Punters are obviously even more willing to take the 1.5 runs, too. The Giants at +1.5 are bringing in 95 percent of the handle, and 88 percent of the bets are doing the same.

MLB: St. Louis Cardinals vs New York Mets Over 8.5

When it comes to game totals, the public is all over the over in this meeting between the Cardinals and Mets. With 75 percent of the wagers supporting Over 8.5, 92 percent of the money is doing the same. There is also some interest on St. Louis, although not to the same extent. The Cardinals on the -1.5 run line are getting 60 percent of the bets and 58 percent of the handle.

NFL: Los Angeles Rams -3.5 over Indianapolis Colts

We’re on to Week 2 in the NFL, and the bets are already coming in. As it stands right now, the public’s favorite play is the Rams -3.5 on the road against Indianapolis. Matthew Stafford and company are drawing 90 percent of the handle and 83 percent of the wagers. On the money line, Los Angeles is a considerable -195 favorite; 81 percent of the handle and 88 percent of the bets are still going in the Rams’ direction.

PGA Tour: Jon Rahm to win the Fortinet Championship

The 2020-21 PGA Tour season begins this week at the Fortinet Championship. That’s right; it is a new season even though it’s September. The Tour Championship marks the end of the previous golf calendar, so now the slate is clean. At least one thing remains the same, however: Jon Rahm is favored to win a tournament—as he was on many occasions during the 2019-20 festivities. Rahm, who is ranked No. 1 in the world, is a massive +330 favorite to triumph this week in Scottsdale, Ariz. Despite those short odds, the Spaniard is still inspiring a majority of the action (11 percent of the handle and 7 percent of the bets). No other golfer is getting more than 7 percent of the money (Kevin Na) or 6 percent of the wagers (Max Homa).
