Purdue ML over Maryland (+140)

A loss at Michigan ruined a previously perfect season for the Terrapins, although they did well to beat Michigan State 27-13. Purdue’s defense ranks 84th in EPA per pass, but it is 10th in opposing completion percentage and forced Minnesota quarterback Tanner Morgan into 3 interceptions last week on his home field. Now Maryland QB Taulia Tagovailoa will have to face a confident bunch in Cam Allen, Chris Jefferson and the rest of the Purdue secondary. With a rushing attack that ranks 96th in EPA per rush, Maryland does not have a reliable ground game to turn to if its passing attack struggles. Purdue is a bit more balanced offensively, which could be a deciding factor in this matchup. The Boilermakers rank in the top 45 in both EPA per rush and EPA per pass and have shown improvement on the ground over the last 2 weeks. They rushed for 348 combined yards and 5.52 yards per carry against FAU and Minnesota, so look for the Boilermakers to attack the Maryland defense on the ground to set up Aidan O’Connell and the passing game.

Washington -13.5 over Arizona State (-110)

The Huskies were handed their first loss of the season last week at UCLA, but the offense still showed up just as it has all season. Quarterback Michael Penix leads the country in passing yards and has thrown 15 touchdowns with only 3 interceptions. He has exceeded the 300-yard mark in every game and should do more of the same against an ASU defense that gave up 348 yards through the air its last time out. The Sun Devils’ offense continues to be a liability, as well. They amassed fewer than 90 yards twice in a row and have gone 4 games straight without scoring more than 25 points. This looks like a lost season at Arizona State, where former head coach Herm Edwards is no longer a part of the proceedings. Back Washington to win big.

Iowa State ML over Kansas State (+110)

Kansas State is up to #20 in the rankings and Iowa State is coming off back-to-back losses at the hands of Kansas and Baylor. What it creates, however, is a nice buy-low spot on the Cyclones. Getting them as underdogs at home looks like an intriguing option. Kansas State boasts a stellar rushing attack, but Iowa State may be able to put the clamps down on it. This team is strong on both sides of the ball, with an offense led by QB Hunter Dekkers and WR Xavier Hutchinson – who can be counted on for 100 receiving yards just about every time out. Iowa State is a very tough venue for opposing teams and that will likely be the case for Kansas State this weekend.
