The 2021 college football season is heating up in a big way this weekend, as there are two games featuring teams in the top 10: Georgia vs Arkansas and Cincinnati vs Notre Dame. Another pits a pair of top-12 programs against each other: No. 1 Alabama and No. 12 Ole Miss. That showdown could go a long way in determining the Heisman Trophy race, too, so needless to say it’s going to be an interesting week on the gridiron.

Week 5 games to watch
Alabama vs Ole Miss. Bryce Young vs Matt Corral. Right now it’s an all-SEC race in the National Championship odds (Bama and UGA) and the Heisman Trophy odds (Young and Corral), so this Saturday is crucial in both departments. If the Crimson Tide take care of business against Ole Miss, they will undoubtedly remain the title favorite and Young in all likelihood will slip past Corral at the top of the Heisman list. Since losing to the Rebels in 2015, Alabama’s last two home dates with them have resulted in wins of 63 points and 28 points.
I’ll take the Tide as -14 favorites, but I’m probably not touching it if the line moves any higher.
I also see a potential opportunity in the Pac-12, where Oregon is giving no more than a touchdown to Stanford. Yes, the Cardinal have home-field advantage; but they are a disappointing 2-2 and both of their wins have come on the road while their losses have come at a neutral site (Kansas State) and at home (UCLA). Both have come by double digits, too. Kansas State just fell to Oklahoma State by 11 and UCLA lost at home to Fresno State in Week 4, so Stanford’s resume is all kinds of bad right now. Oregon is 4-0 with a win over Ohio State and it is coming off a 41-19 laugher against Arizona this past weekend.
Give me the undefeated, third-ranked Ducks and I’ll happily give the points.
