We have already arrived at Week 2 of the college football season, which is really the third weekend of action on the gridiron if you count “Week 0.” The schedule is not a particularly loaded one, but it does feature a pair of top-25 showdowns. Up first is the Texas Longhorns paying a visit to the Michigan Wolverines in the 12:00 pm ET window before the Tennessee Volunteers and NC State Wolfpack square off at night.
Even though the latter contest is in North Carolina, it’s on a neutral field – Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. Here is my Same Game Parlay for the festivities, which will be televised starting at 7:30 pm ET on ABC. Also be sure to check out our full Tennessee vs NC State predictions.
NC State +7.5 alternate spread (+106)
Jordan Waters to score a touchdown (-118)
Squirrel White to score a touchdown (+110)
Tennessee vs NC State Same Game Parlay odds: +513
Part of the value in a Same Game Parlay, of course, is that all of its components can be correlated if you so choose. That is some of the plan here, as NC State running back Jordan Waters scoring a touchdown would obviously work well with the underdogs keeping it close – or even winning outright. At the same time, plays that aren’t correlated drive up the overall payout of the parlay. That is the case with backing Tennessee receiver Squirrel White to also find the endzone. But even if that happens, there is no reason why NCSU can’t be competitive. Let’s break down each of the 3 legs.

NC State +7.5 alternate spread over Tennessee (+106)
NC State struggled to get things going offensively in its season opener before ultimately pulling away from Western Carolina for a 38-21 victory. That is why the market has shifted away from the Wolfpack and giving them almost 10 points on the actual line. However, I think they will wake up now that the competition level is increasing and I’m willing to take the underdogs at anything more than a touchdown. If not for a poor interception by Grayson McCall early in the first quarter and a couple of fourth-down snafus later in the game, it would not have been as competitive. Despite all of it, the Wolfpack still racked up 521 yards of offense and averaged more than 7 yards per play. On defense, NC State is getting back a couple of key starters that missed the season opener due to injury and an early ejection. I see the ‘Pack keeping this one close.

Jordan Waters to score a touchdown (-118)
McCall’s chemistry with his newly revamped wide receiver room got better as last weekend’s contest progressed, but it would still make sense for Waters to be the focal point of the offense. He delivered in a big way against Western Carolina, finishing with 123 yards and 2 touchdowns on 20 carries. That is nothing new for Waters, who found the endzone 12 times as a junior in 2023. He has now scored 22 TDs dating back to the start of the 2022 campaign. The over/under for Saturday’s showdown is set at 60.5, so it is expected to be a borderline shootout. Count on Waters being part of the party.
Squirrel White to score a touchdown (+110)
If this does in fact turn out to be a high-scoring affair, NC State will have every chance to cover – and stay within a touchdown – even if White puts some points on the board. As such, I’m not concerned with adding this leg to my Tennessee vs NC State Same Game Parlay. White did not manage to squirrel his way into the endzone against UT Chattanooga last week, but that was a 69-3 laugher in the Volunteers’ favor so White did not have to be on the field for too long. The junior from Birmingham, Ala. will see a much bigger workload this time around. White recorded 803 yards on 67 catches last season, so it’s safe to say that he is a huge part of this offense. QB Nico Iamaleava looked great against UTC, inspiring all the more confidence for White to have a big night on Saturday.
