Western Michigan -3 alternate spread over Northern Illinois (+125)
With just one victory against FBS competition this season, Northern Illinois has put some downright bad football on display this season. The passing department hasn’t been friendly to the Huskies on either side of the ball. They are throwing for only 191.3 yards per game (109th in FBS) while also surrendering 261.3 (104th). This hasn’t been a typical Western Michigan season, either, but the Broncos have at least been showing some improvement of late. Their defense has now had back-to-back games holding opponents to 13 points or fewer and has limited them to no more than 306 total yards.
WMU running back Sean Tyler has come to life a bit in the last few outings. He has at least 84 rushing yards in 3 straight contests and should have plenty of room to run against a Northern Illinois defense that was torched for 245 yards on the ground a week ago. The Broncos should be able to prevail by more than a field goal.

Buffalo vs Central Michigan Over 54 (-110)
Central Michigan both ran and threw for more than 200 yards in last week’s win at Northern Illinois, and it is not uncommon for the Chippewas to run for as many yards as they throw. Their path to success is similar to Buffalo’s: win the ground game and then implement the passing game off of that ground attack. Central Michigan pinned 44 points on Oklahoma earlier this year, and even if the Sooners are bad defensively that is still an encouraging output – especially for a MAC team. Buffalo is averaging 34 points per game over its last 6. All in all, the over looks like the play to make.

Bowling Green ML over Kent State (+120)
Kent State has endured quite an up-and-down season already at 3-6 — filled with more downs than ups. Statistically, the Golden Flashes are among the worst defenses in all of college football and have allowed at least 27 points in each of their last 4 contests. Their lone win during this span has come against 1-8 Akron.
Bowling Green, on the other hand, heads into this one riding a 3-game winning streak. The Falcons have been almost the complete opposite of the Golden Flashes in that their defense has performed outstanding in recent weeks. Surrendering fewer than 5 yards per play over their last 3 outings, the Falcons have also limited opposing offenses to a measly 13.3 points in those games. I am happy to take BG outright at plus-money odds.
