After a long and eventful college football regular season, the College Football Playoff is finally here. This year’s installment of the Sugar Bowl features the Texas Longhorns against the Washington Huskies in the matchup between the #2 and #3 seeds. Will the Huskies undefeated season continue, or will Texas make the National Championship game for the first time in well over a decade? Here is my Texas vs Washington Same Game Parlay for Monday’s matchup, which will be televised starting at 8:45 pm ET on ESPN. Be sure to also check out our full Texas vs Washington predictions

Washington ML (+152)

Over 62.5 (-110)

Rome Odunze to score a touchdown (-150)

NCAAF Same Game Parlay odds: +704

One of the benefits of Same Game Parlays, of course, is that you can correlate the plays. That is the plan here, as Washington winning would certainly correlate with Rome Odunze finding the end zone. Let’s break down each of the legs.

Washington Huskies ML over Texas Longhorns (+152)

As I mentioned in my preview for this game, it’s hard for me not to give the benefit of the doubt to Kalen DeBoer — who has an astounding 103-11 record as a head coach — and this Huskies staff in this matchup. Washington’s main avenue to success comes in the form of Michael Penix Jr. and an elite receiving corps picking on a Texas back seven that already had issues against the pass this season and will be banged-up in this game. What the Longhorns do have is the best defensive front in the country in my eyes, and Texas’ elite run defense metrics prove it. Therefore, I can’t see Washington even trying to run the ball on early downs here. Instead, Penix will truly get to air the ball out downfield with a fully healthy receiving corps filled with NFL wideouts on a fast track in what should be a perfect environment for the Huskies.

I have few doubts that this game should be a back-and-forth affair where both sides deliver blows until the final whistle. While these are two different teams from a season ago, there is a bit of precedent for DeBoer getting the best of Steve Sarkisian, as the Huskies knocked off the Longhorns in last season’s Alamo Bowl, and did so through the air. As much as I’ve liked this Longhorns team all season long, I simply can’t get there with Texas as a favorite of over a field goal. Let’s back Washington on the money line in a game that I see coming down to the final possession.

Over 62.5 (-110)

It’s pretty clear that both offenses have clear and obvious strengths that should play to their advantage against the opposing defenses in this matchup. For Texas, the Longhorns should see success in the trenches with their dynamic and effective ground attack, which should certainly pave the way for Quinn Ewers, Adonai Mitchell and company to have success in the play action game. It also remains to be seen if Texas is able to block consistently on the ground against a Washington defensive line that has gotten healthier and much more disruptive over the last 3 weeks of the regular season. That leads us to potentially more passing from the Longhorns, which aids the over. Texas’ offense does have issues with finishing drives, which could rear its ugly head in this one, but I’m confident that both teams can put up 30+ points in a game that should feature explosive plays from wire-to-wire.

Rome Odunze to score a touchdown (-150)

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that Rome Odunze is one of the top receivers in college football. His involvement is typically the straw the stirs the drink in the Washington passing game, and I don’t see that stopping in the biggest game this Huskies program has played in years. Odunze caught a whopping 13 touchdowns this season, including 5 games where he recorded 2+ touchdowns. The #1 wide receiver averaged over 6 catches per game in 2023 and didn’t shy away in the biggest moments, recording over 100 yards and 8 receptions in both games against Oregon this season. I expect nothing less than another great effort from the future 1st-rounder in this year’s NFL Draft.
