It all comes down to this. The 2022 college football regular season has drawn to a close and bowl season has almost wrapped up, too. Now the upstart TCU Horned Frogs will take on the top-seeded Georgia Bulldogs in the National Championship on Monday. With a nearly 2-touchdown spread, oddsmakers aren’t giving the Horned Frogs much of a shot. But that’s why they play the games, right?
I finished the regular season on a 5-0 run with my best bets, which brought my 2022 record to 24-14-1 since Week 2. Furthermore, I went 3-0 in my best bets on Monday — including a +647 mega parlay winner. Let’s keep the momentum going one final time!
Let’s take a look at our best bet for the National Championship game.

National Championship Game best bet: TCU +13 (-110)
This TCU team has defied conventional logic and thinking all season long, and I wouldn’t expect that to change here. As we saw last Saturday, Georgia’s defense is talented and deep across the board, but it can be taken advantage of by quarterbacks who can get the ball out quickly and use their legs to keep plays alive. CJ Stroud was able to keep the Bulldogs’ defense honest by creating with his legs off script and making things happen. That was a huge reason why Ohio State was able to stay in the game and would have likely won without the injury to Marvin Harrison Jr. While the talent level is a slight drop-off at quarterback, I anticipate the same being true with Max Duggan and TCU.
This Horned Frogs team is playing with a ton of confidence right now, and it shows. TCU is a top 20 offense in rush success rate and EPA per rush, and the Horned Frogs proved that against Michigan’s stout front 7. Head coach Sonny Dykes’ squad should be able to move the ball on the ground, and that includes Duggan’s mobility and creativity when the play breaks down. On the other side of the ball, defensive coordinator Joe Gillespie’s 3-3-5 look stifled Michigan’s elite offensive line, which should give the Horned Frogs a blueprint to follow for how to slow down this elite Georgia run game. TCU might not be within a touchdown in the 4th quarter, but it’s hard to count out Duggan and company against a Georgia team that is a bit overvalued in the market. At the end of the day, I trust in TCU’s ability to outperform expectations one final time. The Frogs are the only way I can look in what should be a fascinating matchup.
