You don’t have to wait until the end of the college football regular season to see some rivalry matchups. North Carolina already beat South Carolina, for example, and now in Week 2 the Iowa Hawkeyes will pay a visit to the Iowa State Cyclones on Saturday afternoon. Each of the in-state rivals is undefeated as Iowa opened with a 24-14 defeat of Utah State, while Iowa State cruised past Northern Iowa 30-9.

Here is my Same Game Parlay for the festivities, which will be televised starting at 3:30 pm ET of FOX. Also be sure to check out our full Iowa vs Iowa State predictions.

Iowa -5.5 alternate spread (+102)

Luke Lachey over 39.5 receiving yards (-114)

Luke Lachey to score a touchdown (+175)

Parlay odds: +568

One of the benefits of Same Game Parlays, of course, is that you can correlate the plays. That is the entire plan here, as tight end Luke Lachey putting up big numbers would obviously work well with a convincing win by the Hawkeyes. Let’s break down each of the 3 legs.

Iowa -5.5 alternate spread (+102)

Utah State is not a terrible team, so Iowa at least looked decent in its season opener. Transfer quarterback Cade McNamara from Michigan threw for 191 yards and 2 touchdowns. Iowa State won its game against FCS representative Northern Iowa 30-9 in hardly impressive fashion. The Cyclones gained only 250 yards of offense against a weak opponent. Now they have to face the Hawkeyes, who held a whopping 7 opponents to 10 or fewer points last season. That included two shutouts, one of which came in the Music City Bowl against Kentucky. It’s hard to see Iowa State putting up many points at all, so I think Iowa has a good chance of covering this alternate spread.

Luke Lachey over 39.5 receiving yards (-114)

Luke Lachey opened the season in fine form, catching 7 passes for 73 yards against Utah State. That is nothing new for the Columbus, Ohio native, who also wrapped up the 2022 campaign by racking up some impressive statistics. In the last 2 regular-season games against Minnesota and Nebraska he made a combined 12 receptions for 166 yards.

Luke Lachey to score a touchdown (+175)

With McNamara now slinging the ball around for Iowa, his pass-catchers will be the beneficiaries. Two different guys caught touchdown strikes in the season opener. Lachey wasn’t among them, but it still bodes well for him moving forward. It should also be noted that Lachey had TDs in 3 of the final 6 games last year, including in the bowl game against Kentucky. The Cyclones gave up 20 scores through the air during the 2022 campaign; I wouldn’t be surprised if they watch Lachey go for at least one on Saturday.
