The 2022 college football season is underway and Monday provides us with an intriguing ACC matchup. This battle will take place on Monday night when Clemson travels to Atlanta for a matchup against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. This contest kicks off at 8:00 pm ET and will be televised on ESPN.
Let’s get into our same game parlay for this primetime matchup.
Clemson Football -23 (-115)
1st half under 27.5 (-115)
Will Shipley to score a touchdown (-250)
Parlay odds: +432
Clemson Football Tigers -23 over Georgia Tech Football Yellow Jackets (-115)
There are a lot of questions that Clemson has to answer this season, mostly as it relates to their offense. The Tigers will need a much better season from quarterback DJ Uiagalelei if they are to compete for an ACC title and College Football Playoff berth. Clemson’s passing game was quite poor and Uiagalelei had major issues with turning the ball over. However, a game against lowly Georgia Tech is the perfect way for Clemson to start the season with an emphatic victory.
Jeff Collins is just 9-25 in his 3 seasons as head coach of the Yellow Jackets football program, and it’s easy to see why. Georgia Tech simply doesn’t have the talent on both sides of the ball to compete with the best of the ACC. This is a nightmare matchup for the Yellow Jackets, as Clemson return its entire defensive line that is stacked with potential NFL talent and experience. The Tigers should undoubtedly own significant edges in the trenches in terms of size and talent. Going up against a Georgia Tech offensive line that returns just 37 starts from a season ago, the Tigers should control the line of scrimmage throughout the game. I expect Clemson to hold a 2-touchdown edge at the half and cover this number by the end of the 3rd quarter.

1st half under 27.5 (-115)
Honing in on correlating results is typically helpful when betting a same game parlay. In this instance, I think a Clemson win pairs well with a low-scoring game. However, in order to limit my risk with a possible scenario involving a blowout, I’ll stick to a first half under. Getting this total at under 27.5 is important, as this is a key number in football totals. For example, common scorelines of 20-7, or 24-3 wouldn’t be enough to send the first half over this total.
Being as it’s the season-opener, both offenses should spend the first quarter figuring things out. This is typically the case in Week 1, especially in a game featuring Clemson’s elite defense. Georgia Tech is a run-first team, meaning that the clock will consistently run during its offensive possessions. On the other side, with Clemson’s passing game still a question mark, I expect that we’ll see a lot of Will Shipley and the Tigers’ ground game early on. I believe Georgia Tech will struggle mightily to score, so even if Clemson has an explosive first half, the total still should stay under 27.5 at halftime.
Will Shipley to score a touchdown (-250)
For the final leg of our same game parlay, we’re going with Will Shipley to score a touchdown. This is a good anchor for our parlay considering Clemson’s reliance on Shipley last season. The sophomore running back ended the 2021 season with a 5-game stretch in which he tallied 476 yards and 6 touchdowns on the ground. He also proved himself to be a reliable receiver out of the backfield, something that could be advantageous for the Tigers in the red zone on Monday. Georgia Tech ranked 95th in rush yards allowed per game last season, and I expect the Clemson offensive line to exploit that mismatch in this one. And when the Tigers are near the goal line, Shipley has multiple avenues to get in the end zone. Back this final leg of our parlay with confidence.
