Buffalo Bulls alternate spread -9.5 over Liberty Flames (+250)
As is tradition during bowl season, both of these teams will have players entering the transfer portal and sitting out this exhibition game, but the names that are missing this contest are much more significant on the Liberty side. As of now, Liberty will be without starting quarterback Kaidon Salter, running back Quinton Cooley, a trio of significant offensive linemen and a couple starting defenders, including defensive linemen Jordan Hall and linebacker Jerome Jolly Jr. Furthermore, head coach Jamey Chadwell announced that former Appalachian State transfer Ryan Burger will get the start at quarterback, and given that Burger is only 15 for 24 for 161 yards and 1 touchdown in his short college career, it’s hard to see him having much success in this one.
On the other side, Buffalo will almost have its full roster ready to go for this game. The most notable players entering the transfer portal are wide receiver Javien Cuff and kicker Upton Bellenfant, which shouldn’t affect the team all that much. Overall, the line has adjusted to these roster changers, as Buffalo is now favored by 3 after opening as a short underdog. With that in mind, I’m going to take a shot with an alternate line for Buffalo, as there is just too much unknown for Liberty with its quarterback situation and offensive line in question. If the Bulls do win this game, it’ll likely be by multiple scores, so let’s shoot for a higher payout with this leg.

Under 50.5 (-110)
Regardless of which team wins this game, the game script for this matchup should be one that lends itself to an under. Liberty is a team that already runs the ball at one of the highest clips in the Group of 5, and that rushing volume should only increase on Saturday considering the what the Flames have at quarterback in this game. Additionally, Buffalo is also an offense that focuses on running the ball, so we should see a fairly quick game with a running clock and a limited amount of possessions. It also helps matters that Buffalo’s offense has been extremely poor this season, ranking outside the top 100 in Early Downs EPA, success rate and EPA per play. This one feels like an under, so let’s add this leg to our SGP for some added value.
