Butler ML (+195) over St. John’s
It’s a battle of the lower seeds in the Big East tournament on Wednesday. Neither Butler nor St. John’s had a great season, as they finished the season with single-digit wins in conference play. St. John’s finished the season with a slightly better overall record than Butler, but when looking at the opponents each team played, there is no reason for Butler to be this big of an underdog. The Bulldogs beat St. John’s just over a month ago in a game that the Red Storm shot significantly better than Butler. Butler had a very difficult end to their schedule and kept up with their opponents, so although their record lately isn’t great, that doesn’t tell the full picture. This game is much more even than oddsmakers believe, and because of that, the Bulldogs have value on the money line.
Colorado -4 (-110) over Washington
Colorado is looking to avoid the season sweep from Washington on Wednesday, and I think they will. The Buffaloes underperformed in both losses to Washington earlier this season as they got beat in every aspect of the game. But now, in Las Vegas, this is the perfect revenge spot for Colorado. In the second game against Washington this season, the Buffaloes began to realize that they needed to capitalize on their rebounding advantage. The Huskies have the worst rebounding margin in the Pac-12 (-4.06) and ranked 351st in defensive rebounding efficiency out of 352 teams.
It’s clear their rebounding is an issue, and if Colorado can take advantage of that, there’s no reason the Buffaloes can’t cover this spread and more. Colorado is the type of team that crashes the boards on every shot, as they averaged the 2nd-most offensive rebounds per game in the Pac-12. The Buffaloes should limit the Huskies in transition and lock down their offense, which ranked 170th in the country, in the halfcourt. Colorado should get their revenge on Wednesday afternoon.

Villanova -11 (-110) over Georgetown
Villanova is getting hot at the right time, while Georgetown is limping to the finish line. The Wildcats won 6 of their final 8 games of the season, and their only losses came from Providence and UConn. The turnaround in Villanova’s season was sparked by their starting lineup finally getting healthy. Justin Moore missed most of the season rehabbing from the Achilles injury he suffered last season, but once he returned, the Wildcats finally looked like the team everyone expected.
In their first Big East tournament game, they are paired against Georgetown, who has been in the basement of the conference standings all season. The Hoyas have lost 9 of their last 10 games and are just 2-18 in their 20 conference games this year. They ended their regular season on a 0-3 ATS skid, and I expect that to continue on Wednesday.
