We still have to wait 1 more day before the NBA returns, but college basketball is here to pick up the slack. It should be a fun evening on the hardwood, with 5 top-25 teams taking the court – including top-ranked Houston and #2 Alabama. An all-ranked contest features #18 UConn and #20 Providence, while #6 Virginia is also in action in the form of a visit to Boston College.
Let’s take a look at my 3-team mega parlay for Wednesday.
Providence +7.5 (-110)
Kentucky -3.5 (-105)
Wake Forest ML (+195)
Parlay odds: +1000
For this parlay, we are going with 1 favorite against the spread, 1 underdog plus the points and 1 underdog on the money line. Here is a breakdown of each leg.

Providence +7.5 over UConn (-110)
Providence and UConn are tipping off Wednesday’s schedule at 6:30 pm ET on FS1 and it should be a good one. By “good” I mean a margin of victory that is closer – and probably a lot closer – than 7.5 points. The Friars are ahead of the Huskies in the Big East standings by a wide margin (12-4 to 9-7). The first meeting between these 2 teams came on January 4 and Providence rolled to a 73-61 home victory. I’m not sure why a change of scenery in Storrs, Connecticut should flip the script by a full 20 points. UConn is just 6-7 straight up since beginning the season 14-0, while Providence is 15-4 since starting 5-3. The Friars have 4 guys averaging at least 11.1 points per game, including Bryce Hopkins at 16.9 ppg.

Kentucky -3.5 over Florida (-105)
Florida big man Colin Castleton is out for the season after suffering a broken hand last week against Ole Miss. Castleton was averaging 16.0 ppg to go along with 7.7 rpg and had led the Gators in scoring in 8 consecutive contests prior to getting injured. When these 2 teams squared off at Rupp Arena on February 4, Kentucky prevailed 72-67 — and that was with Castleton going for 25 points. Oscar Tshiebwe (15.8 ppg, 13. rpg) scored only 4 points and the Wildcats still won. Just think what Tshiebwe is going to do when Castleton isn’t on the floor. Sahvir Wheeler is out for the Wildcats, but fellow guard Cason Wallace can pick up the slack.

Wake Forest ML over N.C. State (+195)
Let’s wrap up this mega parlay with the longshot play, which certainly has a decent chance of hitting – arguably much better than the +195 odds would suggest. Before losing at #15 Miami 96-87 this past weekend, Wake Forest had gone 6 straight games without losing by more than 2 points. That included a 75-73 setback at Duke and a heartbreaking 79-77 loss to N.C. State. It’s clear that the Demon Deacons, who were on a 3-game winning streak prior to the result against Miami, can hang with the Wolfpack. Meanwhile, N.C. State is just 2-2 SU in its last 4 outings and will be without Dusan Mahoric (knee). Mahoric is logging more than 20 minutes per game and scoring 8.7 ppg. There is no reason why Wake can’t pull off the upset.
