Selection Sunday is finally here, as the 2022-23 college basketball postseason is nearly upon us. Sunday marks the final day of Championship Week, as the bracket will be revealed at 6:00 pm ET on CBS. However, before we can get to the field of 68, there are a few more conference title games to be played. I’m 10-5 over my last 15 best bets in this column, so let’s keep it going!
Let’s take a look at my best bets for Sunday, but make sure you also check out our college basketball picks for the day’s biggest games.

Alabama Crimson Tide -3.5 (-110) over Texas A&M Aggies
Odds available at BetMGM Sportsbook at time of publishing
Last weekend, I backed Texas A&M to knock off Alabama at home in what was a great spot for the Aggies. And while Buzz Williams’ team was able to beat the Crimson Tide last week, I don’t anticipate the same result this time. The Aggies are playing great defense and continue to execute at the free-throw line down the stretch, primarily thanks to the play of Wade Taylor IV at point guard. However, Texas A&M was a bit fortunate to escape with a win over ‘Bama as the Crimson Tide shot just 19% from beyond the arc (7-of-36). The Aggies do have an excellent defense, but they can’t bank on Alabama shooting 33% from the floor and Brandon Miller having one of his worst games of the season for the second time in the span of a week. The Crimson Tide should lock up the SEC title on Sunday.

Purdue Boilermakers -5.5 (-110) over Penn State Nittany Lions
Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing
For the record, this is not a wager that I’m happy to place. I have a 30/1 ticket on Penn State to win the Big Ten tournament from earlier this week, and it’s been an exciting ride to see the Nittany Lions reach their first Big Ten title game since 2011. However, I do think the run ends here for Micah Shrewsberry’s team. Simply put, the Boilermakers are a terrible matchup for Penn State.
The Nittany Lions’ biggest struggles on defense concern protecting the paint, as they have had inconsistent post play from their big men all season (and tournament) long. Going up against Zach Edey is the worst-case scenario for this group, as the Nittany Lions have been most effective offensively this week when they’ve gone small and spread the defense out. If Penn State is forced to play bigger, that limits its capabilities on offense, while still putting the Nittany Lions at a disadvantage on the defensive end. Edey should feast on the interior and Purdue’s 25th-ranked defense should do enough to limit Jalen Pickett and company in the halfcourt. Back the Boilermakers to secure the Big Ten championship.
