Cincinnati Bengals vs Dallas Cowboys Predictions expert picks
We’ve got some great NFL picks for this week’s game between the Bengals and Cowboys, including a 2-star selection for our against the spread pick.
Against the spread pick: Bengals -7 (-110) over Cowboys
Both the Cincinnati Bengals and Dallas Cowboys could really use a win heading into Week 2 after losing their respective season openers. As bad as things were for Cincinnati in Week 1, no team endured a disaster quite like Dallas. Not only did the Cowboys lose to the Buccaneers 19-3 at home, but they also lost quarterback Dak Prescott to a broken right thumb. It sounds like Prescott won’t have to go on injured reserve and could come back in early October, but whatever the case he will definitely be out for this game. That means Cooper Rush will be under center for the ‘Boys, which probably isn’t a great thing. Rush’s body of work is small; he has thrown only 63 passes in his entire NFL career — including 13 after he replaced Prescott last week (7-for-13, 64 yards, no touchdowns, no interceptions).
Joe Burrow turned the ball over a ridiculous 5 times against Pittsburgh last weekend and Cincinnati was still an extra point away from winning. Even though the Bengals were favored, when you cough it up 5 times and still basically beat a heated division rival, you are doing at least some things right. Plus the Bengals will most likely win this game with their defense; Burrow shouldn’t have to be amazing. Cincy was in the top half of the NFL in total defense in 2021 and was tied for 11th in sacks with 42. The unit held Pittsburgh to 267 yards of total offense on 4.4 yards per play in Week 1. The Bengals are 8-1 ATS in their last nine overall, 5-0 ATS in their last five on the road and 7-2 ATS in their last nine following a loss. Dallas is 1-4 ATS in its last five at home. Count on Cincinnati winning big.

Over/Under totals pick: Under 41.5 (-110)
This isn’t a huge number, but it’s also not the smallest of the week. Two other game totals are lower, one is also 41.5 and another is barely higher at 42. As such, I’m not about to take the over in game in which one offense is led by Cooper Rush and the other is coming off a 5-turnover, 7-sack performance. Burrow may be running for his life again in Week 2, as he first had T.J. Watt coming at him and now it will be Micah Parsons. Something like a 24-17 win for Cincinnati keeps this under the total and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s more along the lines of 24-13 or even 20-13. The under is 6-0 in the Bengals’ last six overall and 20-7-2 in their last 29 on the road. It is also 10-3 in the Cowboys’ last 13 overall and 5-2 in their last seven at home. Additionally, the under is 5-1 in the last six meetings between the two teams.
