The Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs continues on Sunday with a mouthwatering clash between the Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills kickstarting the day’s matchups. Both teams have looked tremendous throughout the season and Cincinnati are looking every bit as good as they did last season when they reached the Super Bowl. However, in their way is a juggernaut of a Buffalo team with Josh Allen set to pull out all the stops to get his team into the AFC Championship game. The Bills certainly deserve to be favorites for this matchup, but can they cover the 5.5-point spread? Joe Burrow and the Bengals offense has looked tremendous all season long and look firmly up to the task of keeping up with this Buffalo team when it comes to scoring. Bengals vs Bills point spread pick: Bengals +5.5 (-110)
We have a great matchup here in the divisional round of the AFC playoffs as the Buffalo Bills get ready to host the Cincinnati Bengals. Neither team looked particularly impressive in the first round, as they just barely beat the Miami Dolphins and Baltimore Ravens, respectively. They both were ugly wins, but I was even more concerned about the Bills after their game so I’m grabbing the points with Cincinnati here. If Buffalo only being able to squeak past a 7th-round rookie in Skylar Thompson by 3 points at home doesn’t set off alarm bells, I don’t know what will.
Josh Allen often looked rattled by Miami’s blitz-heavy pass rush; he turned the ball over 3 times and took 7 sacks. And that was against a Dolphins defense that was pretty banged up. Despite the fact that Thompson was a 3rd-string quarterback who only averaged 4.9 yards per attempt and was 18 of 45, Buffalo barely managed to advance. The Bengals have arguably been playing the most consistent football in the NFL over the past couple of months, and they enter this one having won 9 games in a row. They aren’t getting nearly enough respect for a team that’s on a 9-game winning streak.
The Bills had a really easy matchup in the first round, and just look at who they finished the regular season playing against. Their final 7 games came against the Patriots, Bears, Dolphins, Jets, Patriots, Lions and Browns. Miami was the only one of those teams who made the playoffs and the Bills have played just 2 teams that made the postseason since all the way back in Week 6. One of those was the Dolphins, whom they beat by 3 points, and they lost to the Vikings at home. This game seems like a toss-up to me, so I am jumping at the opportunity to grab 5.5 points.

Bengals vs Bills Over/Under totals pick: Under 48.5 (-110)
The under also makes a lot of sense in this spot. The Bengals have been playing really well recently and while guys like Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase might get most of the attention, I think the defense has actually been the biggest reason for their success. They have given up more than 18 points just twice over their past 7 games, and never more than 24. You could say the same thing about Buffalo’s success, as their offense has quietly been shaky for a while now.
The Bills have managed to remain dominant because of their defense, which finished the regular season by allowing 13 points or fewer in 3 of their last 5. It’s going to be cold in Buffalo, and I think Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo will be able to give Josh Allen fits just like the Dolphins did last week. Allen quietly only threw for more than 254 yards once in his final 7 games of the regular season, and the offense just wasn’t the same unit in the second half.
