Chiefs X Factor For Super Bowl LIV

Travis Kelce and George Kittle chatting

Heading into the Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers, the Kansas City Chiefs know Patrick Mahomes is one key x-factor to winning the game. Writing about Mahomes would be too easy though because he has been the main x-factor since he took after the starting quarterback for the Chiefs.

Outside of Mahomes, there are some other players and things that need to happen for the Chiefs to be raising the Lombardi Trophy on Super Bowl Sunday

Let’s breakdown the biggest x-factor for the Chiefs victory.

Travis Kelce has to be better than George Kittle

These two players won’t ever be on the field at the same time, but Travis Kelce needs to have a better game than George Kittle.

Kelce has lived off of people counting him out, and he should have extra firepower with Rob Gronkowski’s comments during Super Bowl week.

“If I had to pick one I’d go with Kittle, for sure,” Gronkowski said Tuesday via Yahoo Sports. “Because he reminds me of myself a little bit, the way he plays the game.

“He has that personality and the way his work ethic is, and he reminds me of myself and the way he doesn’t want to go down. You could tell from the fourth-and-2 when he played the Saints, you could tell he didn’t want to go down, he wanted to score … that reminds me of myself. Every time you get the ball, just have everyone on the defense try to take you down.”

Gronk might have made his comments on who he feels is best, but Kelce has looked better during the playoffs. In the two playoff games, Kelce has caught 13 passes for 164 yards and three touchdowns.

The Chiefs have plenty of wideout options, but in the red zone, it still seems Mahomes wants to look Kelce’s way first.

For the 49ers, when they get into the red zone and are looking for somewhere to pass the ball, they usually look Kittle’s way.

If the 49ers can find Kelce in the red zone, and take away Kittle there is no reason they won’t win the Super Bowl.
