Philadelphia 76ers +7 over Boston Celtics (-110)

The 76ers didn’t do themselves any favors going into the break on a 5-game losing streak, but thankfully all is not lost just yet. The Chicago Bulls are just 1.5 games ahead in the 10th seed, so there’s still plenty of time left to get something out of this season. Facing the defending champions in their first game after the All-Star Weekend isn’t ideal, but Philadelphia showed they are more than capable of holding their ground in the 2 meetings with Boston earlier this year. With a healthy Joel Embiid, they won 118-114 at TD Garden on Christmas Day despite being 9.5-point underdogs.

The 2nd meeting did go Boston’s way, but Philly led by as many as 26 points in that game despite not having Embiid. The big fella is expected back in the lineup on Thursday which is a massive boost, along with Tyrese Maxey and Paul George. Coming back from San Francisco, the likes of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown could be a bit sluggish to start for Boston and that’s Philly’s chance to take advantage. Playing in front of a packed home crowd at Wells Fargo Center, anything can happen and as we saw last night in Los Angeles, upsets are very much possible, especially in these first games after the all-star break. Let’s back Philly to at least keep this one close as the first leg of our Celtics vs 76ers Same Game Parlay.

Tyrese Maxey over 31.5 points+assists (-111)

Maxey had a game to forget against Toronto just before the all-star break, but having not participated in the festivities over the weekend, his batteries should be recharged for the final stretch of the regular season. Before that game against the Raptors, he had cleared this line 12 games in a row, so essentially we are getting a really solid price on a bet that’s cashed 12 times in the last 13 games.

Maxey’s last 10 games read an average of 31.5 points per game, so he’s basically clearing this line on points alone. He’s also getting 6.7 assists per game during this stretch, so there is plenty of room for a dip in either of those 2 categories. One might argue that the presence of Embiid and Paul George might hinder his production, but I would counter that with the fact that he’s scored 30+ points in both meetings against Boston this season, with those 2 players present in the Christmas Day upset win at TD Garden. Maxey is a perfect 3-0 on this line in the last 3 meetings with the Celtics and I’m backing him with confidence to extend that run in Thursday’s game.

Kristaps Porzingis 2+ made threes (-210)

Only 3 times in his last 15 games has Kristaps Porzingis not made a pair of threes for the Boston Celtics. The best 3rd-scoring option in the league is averaging over 20 points per game during this stretch, playing some of his best basketball since arriving in Bean Town a couple of seasons ago. He has been an enigma in the 4 meetings against Philadelphia as a member of the Celtics, averaging 2.3 made threes per game on almost 43% efficiency.

Guarding the perimeter hasn’t been a particular strength of the 76ers this year – they rank just 23rd in opponent three-point percentage, allowing 36.8% of shots to go in. In home games that number jumps to 37%, which is good news for our guy KP as he tries to continue his hot scoring streak after dropping 29 points on the San Antonio Spurs in the latest Celtics win just before the all-star break. Let’s ride Porzingis to bring home our Celtics vs 76ers Same Game Parlay.
