The 2024 NFL Draft takes place tonight, which means it’s time to get serious about projecting the future destinations of the best players in college football. All of the questions we have been asking since the Super Bowl are about to be answered, but — for a few more days, at least — there is still time for some more analysis.
In this piece, I’ll be focusing on former Michigan running back Blake Corum. Not only has Corum been among the best players in college football over the past couple of seasons, but he’s also won a National Championship and shown impressive skill in the biggest games of his career, a factor that has lead to his projection as a Day 2 pick heading into this week’s NFL Draft. We all know that Corum will land on an NFL roster, but where will you end up? Let’s take a look the odds and the best bets to be made regarding Corum’s draft prospects.

- Blake Corum first RB drafted (+750)
All it takes is one quick look at the odds board to illustrate how closely grouped together this year’s running back prospects seem to be, a stark contrast to a season ago when Bijan Robinson was the overwhelming favorite to be the first running back drafted. It appears that former Florida State running back Trey Benson is the clubhouse leader to be the first RB taken, sitting at +160 odds at the time of publishing. Corum checks in at 3rd or 4th in this market depending on your sportsbook of choice. As of now, the former Michigan running back has +750 odds to be the first RB selected this week.

Blake Corum NFL Draft best bets
Blake Corum to be drafted by Los Angeles Chargers (+150)
Odds provided by DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.
The first thing that most analysts will correctly point out is that these odds clearly reflect a certain familiar connection between Corum and new Los Angeles head coach John Harbaugh. As the Chargers assemble their first roster of the Harbaugh era, they have a massive option at the running back position with Austin Ekeler now on the free agent market after many years in Los Angeles. As most fans know, Harbaugh and Corum had great success together over the past few seasons as Michigan, so it’s certainly within the realm of possibility that the Chargers will want to tap into that relationship. There’s also the matter of Corum’s projection as a 3rd round pick, so Los Angeles will have time to address its needs at wide receiver and in the secondary in the earlier rounds. I suspect that Harbaugh will take a chance on his old running back in the later rounds of the draft.
