March Madness is right around the corner, but before we can get to the big dance, the teams have to fight through their conference tournaments. The Big 12 basketball tournament runs from Wednesday, March 8 to Saturday, March 11, and it will be held at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
The winner of the Big 12 tournament is automatically placed into the Round of 64 for March Madness. But given the strength of the conference, there are at least 7 teams that are expected to get an at-large bid and be invited to the tournament. We’ve provided the odds for each team to win the Big 12 title as well as our best bet for the tournament.

Big 12 Basketball Tournament Preview
The Big 12 basketball standings finished with the Kansas Jayhawks at the top for yet another season. Because of the rough start and end to the season for Baylor, the Bears couldn’t quite keep up with the top teams in the league, grabbing the #4 seed in this tournament. Texas earned the #2 seed, Kansas State received the #3 seed and Iowa State got the #5 seed. TCU checks in as the #6 seed, as the top 6 seeds in the tournament will not have to play until the Quarterfinals on Thursday.
Kansas won 7 of its last 8 games to close out the season with the outright championship, while Texas ended its season with a nice victory over the Jayhawks to secure the #2 seed. The Jayhawks will await the winner of West Virginia vs Texas Tech, while the Longhorns will play the winner of Oklahoma State vs Oklahoma.

Big 12 Basketball Tournament Best Bet: TCU Horned Frogs (+900)
As an avid follower of this conference, I was surprised to see TCU at this price. The Horned Frogs did struggle during certain stretches of the conference season, but the same could be said of every team in this loaded league. Furthermore, TCU has looked like a much different team since the return of Mike Miles Jr. at point guard. The Horned Frogs have already shown that they can knock off the likes of Kansas, Texas, Kansas State and Baylor, so this setting will not be intimidating for Jamie Dixon’s team.
Matched up against Kansas State in the first round, TCU will likely be a short underdog in what should be a favorable crowd for Kansas State. Going beyond, the spread for a potential semifinal matchup against Texas shouldn’t be more than 3 points. If the Horned Frogs are able to make it to the title game, it’s no guarantee that they would face Kansas, as Baylor and Iowa State are perfectly capable of knocking off the Jayhawks. Therefore, I like the value of locking in TCU before the tournament, as opposed to a money line rollover.
