Best Tennessee Titans vs Jacksonville Jaguars touchdown scorer bets: Crown King Henry

Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry (22) celebrates after a touchdown during the first half against the Las Vegas Raiders at Nissan Stadium.

After leading the AFC South for most of the season, the Titans no longer have control of the division. A second-half surge by Jacksonville has Trevor Lawrence and the Jags poised for a playoff run, and all that stands in their way is Derrick Henry and the Titans. With kickoff set for 8:15 pm ET on ABC, it’s time to take a look at the best touchdown scorer bets to be made for this pivotal matchup on Saturday.

Tennessee Titans touchdown scorer best bet: Derrick Henry, RB (-110)

Available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing

Week 18 might be the closest we get to seeing Derrick Henry score a touchdown at plus odds all season. The nearest King Henry has been to even odds to score was in Week 9 against the Chiefs, and Henry found the end zone twice. He was -115 to score in several books, so this price at FanDuel Sportsbook would be the new best price for Henry. I’m surprised to see Henry’s odds priced so well, considering he has not played in 2 weeks and the Titans will once again start Joshua Dobbs at quarterback. Dobbs, the 6-year veteran, made his first NFL start against the Cowboys in Week 17’s edition of Thursday Night Football and was 20-39 for 232 yards as the Titans managed only 13 points.

Henry was the focal point of the Tennessee offense when it was Ryan Tannehill throwing passes, and now that the Titans are on their 3rd-string QB, I don’t anticipate Mike Vrabel changing that game plan. These divisional foes met in Week 14, and although Jacksonville came away with the easy win, Henry finished with 121 rushing yards, 34 receiving yards and a touchdown. The King should feast on Saturday night.

Jacksonville Jaguars touchdown scorer best bet: Evan Engram, TE (+250)

Available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing

There are several reasons why I believe Evan Engram will play a large part in Saturday night’s game, but the first is the most important: money. Engram recently earned a huge contract incentive of $600,000 by recording 700 receiving yards on the season. However, the tight end is not done just yet. He is set to make an additional $200,000 for 800 receiving yards, and he enters Saturday’s game just 61 yards away. NFL players know when they are close to contract incentives, so I expect that Engram relayed the message to Trevor Lawrence.

Secondly, Engram went ballistic in Week 14’s matchup against Tennessee as he finished with 11 receptions on 15 targets, 162 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns – all team highs. It’s no surprise that Jacksonville targeted Engram frequently since the Titans’ defense has been susceptible against tight ends this season. The Tennessee defense allows the most targets (8.4), the 4th most receptions (5.8) and the 2nd most receiving yards (68) per game to tight ends. Engram should once again find the end zone against this poor Titans secondary.

Anytime Touchdown Scorer FAQs

What does “anytime touchdown scorer” mean?

Anytime touchdown scorer is a popular player prop bet that NFL bettors can wager on throughout the season. But what is it, and how do you win?

As the name suggests, placing a wager on the anytime touchdown scorer market is when you tip a particular player to score a touchdown during a game. This can be a rushing or receiving touchdown for an offensive player, or you can wager on a team’s defense/special teams to score a touchdown by interception return and fumble return or kickoff and punt returns.

If your player or defense scores a touchdown, you win! The odds will differ from player-to-player depending on the sportsbooks’ calculated probability of that player scoring.

Does anytime touchdown scorer include passing touchdowns?

Not for a quarterback, no. A player must get into the endzone, himself, in order to qualify as an anytime touchdown scorer. If a quarterback throws a touchdown pass, only the player who caught it counts as the scorer. If Joe Burrow throws a touchdown pass to Ja’Marr Chase, wagers placed on Evans as an anytime touchdown scorer will cash. However, those placed on Rodgers as an anytime touchdown scorer will not (unless he also runs for a TD). See below for more on what the anytime touchdown scorer market means for quarterbacks.

What does anytime touchdown scorer mean for a QB?

For a wager on a QB to be an anytime touchdown scorer to cash, he must follow the same rules as a running back, tight end, or receiver. He must get into the end zone himself, either as a runner or a pass-catcher.

In the age of the mobile quarterback, QBs such as Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson and Kyler Murray are often seen rushing in for a touchdown on any given Sunday. And don’t forget the occasional Philly Special, either. QBs can sometimes catch passes for TDs, too.
