Picking a pair of wide receivers to reach the end zone turned out well when both of my Thursday Night Football TD scorer picks cashed in the Jaguars vs Saints game at +240 and and +255 odds, and I’m taking a wide route once again for Monday Night Football.
The 49ers have a point to prove after losing their unbeaten tag in Cleveland last week, and while the Vikings have taken a step back this season with a 2-4 start, they are not often involved in dull games, so the final game of the Week 7 slate should be well worth watching.
Be sure to also check out our full 49ers vs Vikings predictions, but now let’s take a look at my favorite anytime touchdown scorer picks for Monday Night Football.
Brandon Aiyuk, WR, SF (+145 at DraftKings)
With Deebo Samuel ruled out due to a hairline fracture of his shoulder, Brandon Aiyuk is the undisputed WR1 for the 49ers — as if he hadn’t been already. Aiyuk has more targets, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns than Samuel this season and has averaged 90.8 receiving yards per game compared to 50.3 for Samuel. Aiyuk already has 2 100-yard games with 129 against the Steelers and 148 against the Cardinals and he should be able to help QB Brock Purdy get his mojo back on a fast indoor field in Minneapolis.
Aiyuk was targeted 10 times in Cleveland last week in a game in which the whole 49ers offense struggled in miserable rainy conditions, but he still posted 76 yards from 4 catches after Samuel and RB Christian McCaffrey were both knocked out of the game with injuries. The Vikings’ defense will be vulnerable if Kyle Shanahan’s free-flowing offense gets back on track as expected in this game, and Aiyuk has a great chance to add to his touchdown tally.
Target Prop Holliday’s best 49ers vs Vikings prop bets — he went 3-0 on TNF!
Jordan Addison, WR, MIN (+250 at FanDuel)
Jordan Addison is priced at +115 to score a touchdown in this game with BetMGM Sportsbook, which highlights the value we’re getting with FanDuel’s offer of +250. Like Aiyuk, Addison is now his team’s leading receiver during Justin Jefferson’s time on injured reserve and we wouldn’t be getting odds anywhere near +250 for Jefferson. The rookie clearly has some way to go to reach the heights Jefferson has, but he has made a promising start and is already a regular visitor to NFL end zones.
The USC product has scored in 4 of his 6 NFL games with a 5-yard TD against the Chiefs and a 10-yarder from Kirk Cousins for the team’s only offensive touchdown against the Bears in the last 2 weeks. The 49ers’ defense is far from the easiest in the league to breach, but while they have given up just 8 TDs this season, that does include at least 1 in every game. Arizona rookie Michael Wilson scored twice against the 49ers and the Vikings’ first-round pick this year could also give them problems.
