Best player props for Thursday's NHL slate: Copp's streak set to end

Andrew Copp Winnipeg Jets

There are 9 games on the NHL docket tonight, which means we have plenty of options when it comes to the prop market. In this article I am taking a look at 2 specific matchups and breaking down some prop bets. Along with these plays, don’t forget to check out our full game previews for each NHL matchup.

Now let’s get to it.

Andrew Copp under 0.5 points (+106)

Winnipeg’s Andrew Copp enters tonight’s game on a 3-game point streak. He has 2 goals and 2 assists over that span, but getting on the scoresheet could prove difficult tonight. Copp’s streak is his longest of the season, as he has yet to record a point in 4 straight games. Things won’t get any easier as he and the Jets go up against Juuse Saros and the Predators. Saros has an impressive .923 save percentage and 2.43 GAA this season, and he is well-rested after getting the night off on Tuesday.

Copp has struggled in his career against the Predators. In 22 career games against Nashville, Copp has just 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists). On the year, he is averaging well below a point per game (25 points in 35 games), and Nashville is not an easy team to score against. Along with solid goaltending from Saros, the Predators have a strong defensive unit that is allowing just 2.39 goals per game at home, ranking 7th in the league in such scenarios. Look for the Preds to keep Copp off the score sheet in tonight’s contest.

Nick Suzuki under 0.5 points (-130)

It’s no secret that the Montreal Canadiens have regressed substantially after their run to the Stanley Cup Final last season. One of the reasons for their struggles have been their complete lack of scoring, as they average a league-low 2.16 goals per game. Nick Suzuki is their leading scorer, but he has seen a real drop-off in his offensive production compared to his back-to-back 41-point seasons over the last few years. So far this season, Suzuki has registered just 21 points (7 goals, 14 assists) in 38 games. He has just 3 points in his last 11 games, and I like the value in taking the under with his point total tonight. Suzuki and the Canadiens face the Vegas Golden Knights tonight. Robin Lehner is slated to be between the pipes for Vegas, and he is a strong net minder who should be able to limit the damage from Montreal’s attack. Suzuki had 2 points in his last outing, but he has struggled with consistency, recording points in back-to-back games just once over the last 2 months. Consider taking the under.
