I'm an NFL handicapper here at Pickswise who was raised in a household full of sports fanatics. Since I unfortunately never had LeBron James' jumping ability I wasn't able to make it to the NBA, and chose writing about sports as the next best thing. An avid sports bettor myself, I'm excited to get to write about the industry as it gets set to take off across the country. Buckle up. MLB is back in full swing, and we’ve got another great slate on Sunday. We’ve had a lot of success with our MLB handicapping lately, including a big mega parlay win this past week, and we’re looking for more big wins here. I’ve got two player props which I really like that I’m going to discuss here. One of them centers on a big game from Trea Turner. Don’t forget to check what our MLB analysts have backed with side and total picks for all 15 games today.

Trea Turner over 0.5 runs scored (-140)

Line available at publishing at DraftKings

This market was the first thing that caught my eye on Monday. Turner has been hot in this series so far, with two hits and at least one run scored in each of the first two games. He’s hitting .317 overall this year, and has two or three hits in four of his past six games.

The Nationals are the road team Sunday and Turner bats leadoff, so he’ll get more plate appearances than anybody else in the game. Washington’s offense put up 17 runs in the first game of this series, so they should be able to drive him home if Turner gets on base.

Given Turner’s recent success and his history against Diamondbacks starter Luke Weaver, it’s quite likely he gets on base a couple of times. Turner is 5/6 in his career against Weaver.

Kwang-hyun Kim under 4.5 strikeouts (-120)

Line available at publishing at DraftKings

-120 is a pretty cheap price to pay here. Kim simply isn’t a strikeout pitcher, and is more of a contact guy. He’s only eclipsed four strikeouts twice in five outings this year, and that’s despite his punch-out rate being up significantly from last year.

In 2020, he struck out only 24 batters in 39 innings despite pitching very well with a 1.62 ERA. As such, if he runs into any trouble, there’s no way he’ll get to five strikeouts here. Against a Padres lineup that’s firing on all cylinders right now, trouble is exactly what he’ll run into.

The Padres put up 13 runs on Saturday, and they’ve now scored at least eight in three of their past six. The Padres also have the fifth-fewest strikeouts of any team this season.
