TJ Oshie over 0.5 points (-125)
TJ Oshie returned from Covid-19 protocol after more than 10 days and recorded a goal. Oshie is a gamer and he shows up in big moments. The Capitals have now lost 4 games in a row and they need to get back on track quickly, expect this one to have a lot of goals coming from Washington’s side of the puck. Oshie has recorded 13 points in 17 games this season, at -125 bettors are getting great value. With the way Ovechkin has been playing this season, Oshie has a great chance to make it on the scoresheet tonight. He has been playing on the first line and first powerplay unit since his return, with Kuznetzov centering the top line, this is a line that can do some damage on any shift. Kuznetzov and Ovechkin are both higher than a point per game right now, and that should rub off on Oshie.
In 34 career games against the Islanders, Oshie has recorded 31 points and a +12 plus/minus. He seems to really enjoy playing the Isles and he should tap into that energy tonight. The Caps need a win, which means they need their top line to shine. Take Oshie to record a point.

Nathan MacKinnon over 1.5 points (+110)
After an almost disastrous night for the Avalanche, they are playing back-to-back tonight against the same team, the Arizona Coyotes. This game should play out the exact opposite of last night’s 4-3 shootout win for the Avs — expect a blowout. The Avalanche are too good and the Coyotes may have flown too close to the sun last night. The Avs are one of the best teams in the league and they are more than capable of reviewing some game tape and seeing what they need to adjust, which is mainly their best player, Nathan MacKinnon. MacKinnon recorded 7 shots on goal last night from 12 shot attempts. He was the hungriest player on the ice and he didn’t even record a point. He should bounce back tonight in a major way. In 24 games he’s recorded 35 points this season. Last night was surely an anomaly and he’ll be looking to get back on the scoresheet.
MacKinnon is one of the best players in the world, so he shouldn’t be phased by the tail-end of the back-to-back. If anything, his elite conditioning could see him playing at a higher pace than some other players. The Coyotes allow the most goals per game in the league with 3.69. This remains a mismatch and MacKinnon will be looking to pad his stats. Take him to record over 1.5 points.
