Great news everyone: we have 16 MLB games today/tonight. If you are familiar with math, you probably have already figured out that we have 32 starting pitchers to go along with all of these games. The pitcher strikeout prop is the most electric of all the MLB player props we are allowed to bet and it will be fire again today. It’s Saturday and we need some action. If I was in charge I would require everyone to have at least one of these props going every Saturday. It would solve nearly every problem we have on this planet. Since we can’t do that, let’s just start with us. Here is one that I love today.
Don’t forget to check what our MLB analysts have backed with side and total picks for all the games today/tonight. As always, bets can be added to the card, so why not follow me on Twitter in case we get some last-second action? It makes sense.
Zach Thompson over 4.5 strikeouts (-110)
Line available at DraftKings at time of publishing
I hate only having one MLB player prop for a Saturday, but it is what it is. The books are getting pretty sharp and they were on their game today. Especially DraftKings. Shoutout to them for nailing this slate. They got everyone pretty much right and priced out everyone else…everyone except our boy Zach Thompson.
We talked about Zach Thompson last week and the fact that he is a 6’7,” 230-pound strikeout machine. Last week he popped up in the MLB player props article at this same number but with a +130 price tag. He mowed down seven Cubs in 4.0 innings of no-hit ball.
He doesn’t have the longest of leashes as he hasn’t thrown more than 73 pitches in a game this season. Still, when pure electricity is flying out of the guy’s hand on every pitch, 70+ is plenty when you only need five strikeouts. He might even be allowed to throw into the 80s today. Who knows? All I do know is the kid has a cutter that is as filthy as anybody’s in MLB.
Thompson gets the Nationals, who are literally tearing the cover off the ball this week. In the last seven days, their .OPS is .854 and they are hitting .283 as a team–not ideal, but keep in mind we don’t need this kid to throw a perfect game. Just sit some guys down and take a shower. Over the last week only three teams have struck out more than the Nationals, so it’s not like this is impossible.
I like this move a lot and I don’t think we will see too many more 4.5 lines for Thompson–especially not at -110. This is by far my favorite MLB player prop of the day.
