With just a single NHL game on Monday night, there is a good chance the sides or total may not present value. Thankfully, there’s more than just one skater on each team. Diving into player props, let’s focus on a young, rising star who has emerged in the second half of the season. Along with our player props, be sure to check out our full game previews for tonight’s matchup.
Cole Caufield over 0.5 goals (+165)
Cole Caufield is only be 21 years old, but he is already proving he is going to be a star in the NHL. He showed glimpses to start the season, and has really come on as of late. It’s clear there was a philosophy switch when Montreal fired their coach midseason. That is exactly when Caufield emerged. Although he’s played in just 57 of the team’s games, he catapulted his way to 2nd on the team in shots on goal.
Better yet, he’s been efficient with those shots. He’s now scored a goal in 4 straight games. Now the Jets come into town on the 2nd night of a back-to-back. This provides Caufield with a prime opportunity to make it 5 straight games with a goal. The Jets’ goaltending has a significant drop-off when shifting to their backup. Starter Connor Hellebuyck got the nod against the Senators last night, so backup Eric Comrie is expected to be in net for this matchup. Caufield is barely allowed to buy beer in the U.S., but he should have something to celebrate after this game in Canada.
