Best player props for Monday's NHL slate: Hintz and Hughes primed for big nights

Dallas Stars wing Roope Hintz skates during game against Hurricanes

Some say that the best way to start your week is with some NHL player props. Our NHL prop team is 6-2 over our last 8, and we are looking to keep things rolling with a pair of props tonight. Along with these plays, don’t forget to check out our full game previews for all of tonight’s matchups. Roope Hintz over 0.5 goals (+186)

Roope Hintz is a big reason why the Dallas Stars have won 6 games in a row and 8 of their last 9. In that 9-game stretch, Hintz has caught fire with 9 goals. He recorded a hat-trick last Tuesday against the Hurricanes, but was held off the score sheet completely on Thursday against the Blue Jackets. He seems to have a great chance at finding the back of the net tonight against the Coyotes. Arizona is allowing 3.63 goals per game, which is the 3rd-most in the league. In the meeting between these teams last Saturday, Hintz scored a goal 54 seconds into the game. He is in quite the groove right now, and facing a weak defensive team like the Coyotes seems to favor Hintz’s goal-scoring ability. There is tremendous value at +186, so consider backing Hintz to score a goal in tonight’s contest.

Jack Hughes over 0.5 points (-120)

Line available at FanDuel at time of publishing

Jack Hughes has now played 3 games since returning from a 17-game absence dealing with a dislocated shoulder. He might be feeling more comfortable with a few games under his belt. Hughes scored a goal against the Jets on Friday, and he seems to have a favorable matchup tonight against the Senators. Ottawa is allowing the most goals per game in all of hockey (3.91), and they have given up 13 goals in their last 3 games. They have also allowed 23 total goals in their last 5 road games, good for an average of 4.6 goals per game during that stretch. In 3 career games against the Senators, Hughes has tallied 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist). That is obviously a small sample size, but given Ottawa’s defensive struggles so far this season, it seems likely that Hughes finds the score sheet tonight.
