I've been a capper since my love for sports met my proficiency with numbers and math. The NFL and NCAAF have always been my first loves, followed by the NHL. Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. Just when you thought the NHL regular season was over, there’s still 1 more game! The playoffs begin on Monday and we’ll have plenty of great bets for you, but why wait? Let’s take advantage of sportsbooks focusing on the postseason pricing rather than today’s lone game. We’ll focus on a top goalscorer here and don’t forget you can also check out all of our NHL analysis including playoff series previews.

Kyle Connor over 0.5 goals (-110)

It may not be a diamond-in-the-rough-type of play to close out the season, but Kyle Connor is reliable. He has 92 points this season with an even split of 46 goals and 46 assists. He may not reach the 50-goal, 100-point season, but he can certainly pad his stats one last time. Unfortunately, he likely would have achieved those milestones had he not missed a few games due to health and safety protocols. The Jets have been allowing their starters to play their full ice time in the last few games as they do not have the postseason to worry about.

Connor is 2nd on the team with nearly 22 minutes of ice time per game, providing him more opportunities than most. His 46 goals is the 6th-most in the league, ahead of Connor McDavid and Steven Stamkos. Just 2 more could leapfrog him into the top 5. He’s already in the top 5 in shots on goal, which correlates to the amount of goals he scores. It’s a shame a skater with such talent won’t get to showcase that in the playoffs, but at least he’ll get to do so against the Kraken, an expansion team allowing nearly 3.5 goals per game. Expect Connor to finish his 2022 campaign with a top-5 goalscoring mark by finding the net on Sunday.
