We had an illegal amount of Chinese takeout last night. It was crazy. But all there was to show for it this morning were a few fortune cookies. We did a great job of finishing. I cracked one of the fortune cookies open with breakfast this morning and the fortune read, “you can’t win if you don’t bet.”
It’s hard to disagree with a statement as wise as that one. It really made me think. Obviously there was only one thing left to do after reading something like that. Find a MLB player prop we could all be proud of. Not only did I find one; I found one that’s +140.

This one is pure magic. It’s just us against the books, mano e mano. DraftKings is the only book offering the home runs allowed prop, so I do apologize to anyone who can’t use them. For what it’s worth, I think this kid strikes out at least 5 Cubs today–but DraftKings has the price at -170. I went with the home run line instead because I am cheap and -170 is expensive for a MLB player prop.
So who is Elieser Hernadez? He is a 26-year old for the Miami Marlins making his third start of the season. He throws in the low 90s and he’s given up a dinger in each of the 2 games he’s appeared in this season. The most he’s thrown is 68 pitches in a MLB game this season but he could get into the 70s today. The more the better, obviously.
Hernandez has the Cubs today so that’s an issue but all we need is just one of them to smoke one. Just one piss missile and we’re home. There’s reason to think it’s possible though. They just hit 4 in Friday night’s game. There are 14 MLB teams that have hit fewer dongs in the last 7 days than Chicago so take that for what it’s worth. I don’t think this bet is that reckless. I think it’s crazy enough that it’s actually smart.
