This week in the NHL starts off with just 2 games on Monday night. The Red Wings visit the Blue Jackets, and the Islanders visit the Lightning. Both games get started at 7pm ET. Even with a small slate, there is value to be found in the prop market. I have a play in mind, and I will share that here. Tyler Bertuzzi over 0.5 points (-120)
Line available at DraftKings at time of publishing
Tyler Bertuzzi is enjoying a fine 2021-22 campaign thus far with 16 points (9 goals, 7 assists) in 13 games. Bertuzzi, along with fellow line mates Dylan Larkin and Lucas Raymond, are a big reason why Detroit appears to be taking a step forward in their rebuild this season. Together, Bertuzzi, Larkin, and Raymond have combined for 42 points. The Red Wings are in Columbus tonight to take on the Blue Jackets. It appears to be a favorable matchup for Bertuzzi and the Wings.
In 11 career games against the Blue Jackets, Bertuzzi has 10 points (9 goals, 1 assist). Columbus is giving up over 3 goals per game this season, and they have allowed 9 goals over their last 2 contests. Elvis Merzlikins has been strong in net, but it’s tough to produce at a high level between the pipes when the defense in front of you is giving up so many shots. The Blue Jackets are allowing the most shots per game in the league to their opponents (34.8). The Red Wings have scored 3 or more goals in 4 of their last 5 games, and they should be able to keep things rolling tonight. Look for Bertuzzi to get on the scoresheet in tonight’s game.
