Sunday is extremely light on games with a slate that was featured to have just three. The Dallas Stars vs. Tampa Bay Lightning game has since been postponed and the Boston Bruins play the Pittsburgh Penguins at noon. Because there is not enough time to break down that Boston game, here we will be solely focused on the night cap. That being the Chicago Blackhawks taking on the Florida Panthers. The Panthers have actually not played a game yet, due to their previously scheduled games with Dallas being postponed. Here we will look to break down a few player prop bets based on the limited information we have so far.
Let’s take a look at two of the best prop bets for Sunday’s Chicago Blackhawks vs. Florida Panthers game.
Alex DeBrincat Over 0.5 Points (-118)
There really is not much to say about Chicago so far in terms of their effectiveness. They have scored a total of three goals in two games, proving that their offense could be one of the worst units this entire season. The only real standout so far has been Alex DeBrincat. This is solely because he is the team leader in points. He had nothing to show for in the season opener, but had two points in the second game. He scored one goal in this game against Tampa and also assisted one. If this Blackhawks’ offense is going to have any chance of competing, it will likely need to run through DeBrincat. Because he has already shown his ability to score and set up a score, I think he will manage to grab a few points.
Jonathan Huberdeau Over 0.5 Points (-225)
Because Florida has not played a game, finding a player to step up might be a little hard. Surely, the Panthers are going to be rusty, but based on last year, there is one guy in particular who I believe will make a difference. That being Jonathan Huberdeau. Last season Huberdeau led the Panthers with 78 points. For starters, this was the 12th best point total in the NHL. He had 55 assists, which was seventh in the NHL and 23 goals. That certainly feels like enough production to warrant this point prop play. The only concern is the price of this play. However, Huberdeau did average 1.13 points per game last season (18th best in the NHL), so he is no stranger to being one of his team’s best players and should be able to contribute enough.
