We’ve got a three-game slate for Monday’s NHL card, but there’s still plenty of opportunities to find some value. Right now, we’re going to be focusing on player props, bringing you a few of our favorite props. Before you bet these, make sure you also check out our picks on the side and total for every game.
Alex Ovechkin Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (-130)
It probably comes to no surprise who we are going to be back in game two of this series. That of course being Alex Ovechkin, who easily cashed our shots on goal prop in game one. He now has 186 shots on goal this season through the regular season and one game in the playoffs. He also has cashed this prop in seven of the eight games played against Boston this year and is averaging 5.5 shots on goal per game against them. Until the bookmakers put heavier juice on this line or just raise it half a point or so, we will continue to back Ovechkin to bother the Bruins’ goalie

Roman Josi Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-130)
This is another play we have used before, at least in the regular season a few times. That being Roman Josi of the Nashville Predators to have several shots on goal. The Predators will open their round one playoff series with the Hurricanes tonight and will need all of Josi’s attacking ability if they are going to take an early series lead. He is second on this team with 141 shots on goal and that is even having missed about eight games. Josi is averaging 2.93 shots on goal per game overall and 2.6 shots against the Hurricanes in five games. He has also cashed this prop in four of the five meetings with Carolina, so backing him to have just three shots on goal will be our play.
Be sure to check out our full game preview for Nashville Predators vs. Carolina Hurricanes.
Cale Makar Over 2 Shots on Goal (-140)
The top seed in the West Division, Colorado Avalanche, will kick off their first round series tonight with the St. Louis Blues. Here we are going to back a player from Colorado, but probably not the guy most were expecting.
That player being Cale Makar, one of the Avalanches’ top defenders. We are not even asking him to score a point in this game, but instead looking for shots on goal. Makar has 104 shots on goal this season and has played just 44 games. That comes out to an average of 2.36 shots on goal per game. In eight games against the Avalanche, Makar has cashed this prop four times. Though in the other four games, he earned a push and has not had less than two shots on goal against Colorado this season. For that reason, we will back him here to at least have two shots on frame.
