The Raiders and Steelers have made similar starts to the 2023 NFL season, each standing at 1-1 after a close win in a divisional game and a heavy loss to one of the league’s elite teams — so who will have the edge when they meet on Sunday Night Football?
The late game may need to provide a lift after an action-packed early slate is followed by just 3 relatively unappealing games for neutral observers in the afternoon, but neither team has exactly been lighting up the scoreboard this season.
There should be touchdowns at some point though — Pittsburgh even scored one on the first play of the game on Monday Night Football against the Browns, albeit with their defense — so here are my favorite touchdown scorer bets for this AFC matchup. Jaylen Warren, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers (+210 at Caesars)
As noted above, the Steelers’ defense is arguably more likely to score a TD than their struggling offense at the moment, and they scored with interception and fumble returns against the Browns, so there could be interest in their defense to get on the board again at odds as high as +650 with FanDuel. Both those scores were dropped into their arms, though, and they might need their offense to provide more than the one score they got from George Pickens on Monday this time.
Given the Steelers’ struggles to move the ball — they staged a 4th-quarter comeback win despite having minus 7 yards of offense in the 4th quarter against Cleveland — it would be no surprise to see head coach Mike Tomlin and under-fire OC Matt Canada turning to running back Jaylen Warren more often. Warren has looked a major scoring threat, far more dangerous than official RB1 Najee Harris, and particularly in the passing game, where he has the team’s joint-most receptions with 9 alongside Pickens. FanDuel is cautious about Warren reaching the end zone against the Raiders, offering +155 odds, so the +205 at DraftKings and Caesars’ +210 anytime TD scorer odds have good value.

Davante Adams, WR, Las Vegas Raiders (+135 at FanDuel)
Raiders running back Josh Jacobs is yet to get his first touchdown of the season, so it’s hard to argue that it shouldn’t be much longer before it arrives, but I prefer the chances of the team’s leading receiver Davante Adams. The former Packer may or may not have signed with Las Vegas before last season in the expectation that his buddy Aaron Rodgers might join him at some point, but he was able to showcase his skills with Derek Carr at QB last season and has struck up a fruitful partnership with new signal-caller Jimmy Garoppolo.
Adams has 12 receptions from 17 targets for 150 receiving yards and 1 TD already this year and should be able to find space in the Pittsburgh secondary, especially if Minkah Fitzpatrick is still feeling any effects of the chest injury he suffered on Monday. BetMGM is taking no chances with Adams at -125 odds to score against the Steelers, but the +135 at FanDuel is much more acceptable.
