What was set up to be a 13-game NHL slate has been reduced to 11 due to postponements. However, no one needs an unlucky Friday of 13 ahead of the holiday weekend! We’ve still got plenty of great opportunities on the board anyway. Bruins vs Devils should be one of the best games of the season, but that’s not an ideal matchup for our player props. Instead we’re going to be rooting for guys to pile on the points today, so let’s check out who we’re targeting.
Along with our player props, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action.
Jason Robertson over 1.5 points (+125)
The Dallas Stars will be looking to head into the 3-day break with the lead in the Central Division, where they’ve been the majority of the season. They have an ideal matchup to do so, taking on the Montreal Canadiens. Jason Robertson and company have already feasted on them once this season, taking them down 5-2. That game was in Canada and the Stars should shine even brighter in Dallas. The only debate with this play is which skater to target. We’re also expecting an assist from both Roope Hintz and Miro Heiskanen, but there’s a great chance both of those go to Robertson to find the net.
Robertson is having an incredible season, leading the team with 141 shots, 24 goals and 48 points overall. That’s also good for the 5th-most points in the NHL, 2 of which came against the Canadiens in that matchup. Although Robertson has had only 1 point in his last 2 contests, his last multi-point game was a 3-assist game against a very stout Carolina Hurricanes team. Similarly, the last time the Stars returned to Dallas after a road trip he racked up 5 points in 2 games. This will be just their second game back at home after 5 on the road, so expect Robertson to find his groove and put on a show before the mini-break.

Connor McDavid over 1.5 points (-160)
There are only a few skaters with more points than Robertson, and Connor McDavid is one. That’s no surprise to even the most casual fan, as he’s out for his 5th Art Ross Trophy for the NHL leader in points. He’s won it each of the past 2 seasons, and already has 65 points through 34 games this year. For perspective, the next closest skater is his teammate Leon Draisaitl with 55. Such an elite linemate only helps McDavid continue to rack up points night after night. He had a rare 1-point night in the Edmonton Oilers’ most recent game, but that was against Robertson’s Stars. They’re a great defensive team, and McDavid should have more than just a goal tonight, like he had in Dallas.
He and the Oilers have an ideal matchup against the Vancouver Canucks. Not only will McDavid and the boys be back in Edmonton, the Canucks have been awful in terms of goaltending. They’re allowing the 3rd-most goals per game this season, the 3rd-most on the road and the 4th-most in the last month. If that wasn’t enough, they’ll also be on the second night of a back-to-back after being in Vancouver to take on the Seattle Kraken last night. McDavid had 4 points against the Canucks at the start of the season, and should repeat that success on home ice. Look for Draisaitl to hit this same prop, but our official play will be on McDavid.
