The NFL gets plenty of attention on Sundays, which is a large reason as to why we have just 3 NHL games going today. However, we’re still here to make it a profitable day on the ice. There’s a good chance there’s not many sides and totals jumping off the page at you. Thankfully, we have the player prop market where we don’t need to worry about the outcome of games. Despite having just 3 games on the board, we still have 2 plays we love for today’s slate. Along with our player props, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action and our NHL mega parlay.
Let’s take a closer look at my favorite player props today.
Chris Kreider over 2.5 shots on goal (-160)
The New York Rangers are coming off a tough home loss against the Boston Bruins, who are on fire to begin the season. However, they have a great opportunity to bounce back in what will be their 3rd straight home game. The Rangers are welcoming in the Detroit Red Wings, who will be on the second night of a back-to-back. They just had to face the other New York team, the Islanders, in Detroit last night. Now they head to the Big Apple themselves, which sets up perfectly for the Rangers and Chris Kreider specifically.
There should also be consideration for Mika Zibanejad with this prop, but we’re going to roll with Kreider. One major factor for that is his history against the Wings. In just 3 games against Detroit last season, the Rangers left winger recorded a ridiculous 16 shots. That’s an average of over 5 shots per game, and now he gets a fatigued Detroit team. The Wings have improved as a team overall, but they’re still allowing the 5th-most shots per game. That spells disaster against a Rangers team out to avenge their recent loss. We also love point props involving Artemi Panarin and Adam Fox to record an assist today. If available, make this play at an alternate 3.5 line at plus-money as well.

Matthew Tkachuk over 3.5 shots on goal (-165)
We’re going with another shots on goal prop for our second play. Panthers Matthew Tkachuk just recently came through for us with this same prop on Thursday. Now he gets to face an Anaheim Ducks team that has been awful defensively this season. Not only have they allowed the most goals per game, they’ve also allowed the most shots per game. Worse yet, they’ll be coming into this game after just having played in San Jose against the Sharks last night. Florida also just played down the road in Los Angeles against the Kings last night, but a back-to-back has a much greater effect on teams defensively.
That means the Ducks skaters are going to be much more fatigued and much less willing to sacrifice themselves to block shots. You can be sure Tkachuk will continue to take his chances knowing he is facing a team that has given up so many goals, and will now be with a backup goaltender in net. He also hit this prop in each of the first 2 games against Anaheim last season as a member of the Calgary Flames. The left-winger has also enjoyed his time in California, as he recorded 3 points and 10 shots on goal against the Sharks on Thursday. That was when he hit this same prop, so expect at least 4 more tonight. This play is as high as -200 at some sportsbooks so be sure to shop around for the best price and yes, the juice is worth the squeeze.
