I've been a capper since my love for sports met my proficiency with numbers and math. The NFL and NCAAF have always been my first loves, followed by the NHL. Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. We’ve got just a 3-game NHL slate tonight, but you know we’re always here to find value. That’s exactly what we’ve done in the player prop market. Although there are just 6 teams in action, that still means over 100 skaters. Rather than sweating the outcome of the game, we only need to worry about individual player performances.

We have just one for tonight’s small slate, but we’re never going to force a play either. There will be plenty of nights with bonus picks, so let’s secure tonight’s win and roll it over into tomorrow’s bigger slate. Along with our player prop, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action.

Let’s take a closer look at my favorite player prop today.

Robert Thomas Over 0.5 assists (-105)

That’s right, we’re targeting an Oilers game without pinpointing Connor McDavid with our prop. He just had back-to-back games without a point, so feel free to take his over 1.5 points prop tonight. He’s certainly due, but we’re going to give you more than just that for our official play.

The Blues shut out the Oilers 4 days ago as well, so there is some inconsistency there. St. Louis suffered their first loss of the season on Monday night, so knowing they can handle McDavid and the Oilers should bring confidence for a bounce-back spot. They’re a deep team that finished last season with 9 different skaters with at least 20 goals. Eight of them are still on the Blues, which is a perfect situation for Robert Thomas to record an assist.

He was 1 of those 9 skaters, and he had exactly 20 goals. However, the majority of his points came by way of assists, as he had 57 of those. He’s tied for the team lead with 4 right now, and doesn’t have a single goal. Thomas has had just 2 shots on goal this year so far, and it’s not due to lack of playing time. He’s still averaging nearly 20 minutes of ice time per game, he just prefers to dish out apples instead. That’s especially true against the Oilers. In 3 games against them last season, Thomas had 6 points, 4 of which were assists. He also had 1 against them 4 days ago, so there’s no reason to go against this trend tonight.
