We’re coming off a weekend with nearly every sport in action, and we’ve got another 6 NHL games tonight. Of course the NFL has the premier Monday Night Football game, but we’ve got many more opportunities for profit on the ice. Even if you aren’t feeling any of the sides or totals tonight, we can target specific players instead. Based on the matchups, we’ve found the best sports to pinpoint which skaters should have breakout performances. Along with our player props, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action.
Let’s take a closer look at my 2 favorite player props.
Connor McDavid over 1.5 points (-140)
There’s no sense in pretending we’re trying to go out of the box with this first play. Just about everything under the sun has been said about the talent of McDavid, as he’s even been given the nickname McJesus. He’s coming off of yet another Art Ross Trophy award-winning season, which was the 4th of his career. It’s the award given to the skater with the most points in the NHL, which he’s won back-to-back on 2 separate occasions. McDavid has also won the Hart Trophy twice, which recognizes the NHL’s MVP.
He and the Oilers were just shut out in their last game, which is almost unheard of. Even with that outlier of a game, McDavid is still tied with the 2nd-most points in the league with 10 in this young season. That puts him on pace to easily eclipse last year’s 123-point season. Part of the reason he was able to reach that mark was his success against the Penguins. In his 2 games against them last year, McDavid recorded 4 points in each of them. It was by way of a goal and 3 assists both times as well. It doesn’t matter how he does it, and we only need half of that for him to cash this prop on home ice tonight.

Mitch Marner over 1.5 points (+155)
We’re going to target another skater for the same prop as McDavid. He’s a bit more unknown than the Oilers center, but he won’t be for long. Mitch Marner of the Toronto Maple Leafs is quickly becoming one of the young superstars of the NHL, especially after the season he just had. He finished last year with 97 points in just 72 games, which was behind only a handful of skaters, including McDavid. Being in that elite company already spells greatness. Speaking of which, it also helps that he skates alongside Auston Matthews, who led the league in goals scored last season with 60.
That should provide plenty of opportunities for Marner to record multiple points, which he did 29 times last year. That included a 6-point performance against the Detroit Red Wings, and he was also strong against the Vegas Golden Knights. Although he was only available for 1 of the Leafs’ 2 games against them, he recorded 3 points off of a goal and 2 assists. Similarly, Matthews scored 3 goals against Vegas last season, and Marner is nearly always his assist man. That’s not too surprising given that he averages over 22 minutes of ice time per game. He’ll be on the road, but Marner matches up well against the Knights.
