If you’re wondering where to look after the 4-day excitement of March Madness, we have you covered with NHL action. Specifically, NHL player props. We saw several skaters have big weekends, which of course includes Connor McDavid on his quest to a 150-point season. He and the Edmonton Oilers are in action tonight, however, as they are on home ice and facing a bad San Jose Sharks team, there’s little value to be had. Instead, we have found some other reliable superstars that we’re targeting.

Sidney Crosby over 0.5 assists (-150)
Connor McDavid is on the brink of history, but Sid the Kid has already made some himself. He’s clearly a firs-ballot Hall-of-Famer, and we’re backing his most consistent prop. Crosby can no doubt find the back of the net himself, but his assist numbers are superb. In his career, he has 946 helpers, which is good for the 16th-most in NHL history. To say the Pittsburgh Penguins struggled over the weekend would be an understatement. However, Crosby and company have a great opportunity for a bounce-back game as they look to solidify their playoff spot.
They’re taking on the Ottawa Senators, who have allowed at least 4 goals in 7 straight games. That should allow the Pens as a team to perform well, and for Crosby to continue his success against them. In 45 career games against the Sens, he has 36 assists. That includes at least 1 in 5 of the last 6 meetings, and 4 across the 2 games against them this season. With him skating alongside a sharpshooter like Jake Guentzel, he has the perfect linemate to link up with. This is a prop that has come through for us multiple times and we’ll trust Crosby again on home ice.

Matthew Tkachuk over 0.5 assists (-160)
We’re not wasting any time with our plays today, as this one will take place in the other 7:00 pm ET game. Like Crosby, we’ve targeted Tkachuk several times this season, and he continues to deliver. That’s no surprise when you see that he has 92 points through 66 games, which is the 5th-most in the NHL. He notched a goal in the Florida Panthers’ recent impressive come-from-behind win over the New Jersey Devils. However, not only did he have an assist in 4 of the 5 games prior, but multiple assists in 3 of those games.
He’s been an absolute machine this season, as his 60 assists are also tied for the 5th-most in the NHL. If there was one skater that has made the biggest impact on a new team this season, it would be Tkachuk. He and the Panthers will be facing off against the Detroit Red Wings, who just allowed 5 goals on home ice last time out. Worse yet, starting goaltender Vile Husso got pulled in that game. The Wings have clearly thrown in the towel on their season, while the Panthers are fighting for the postseason lives. Tkachuk has had an assist in each game against Detroit this season, and we expect another one tonight.
