I've been a capper since my love for sports met my proficiency with numbers and math. The NFL and NCAAF have always been my first loves, followed by the NHL. Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. After yet another 2-0 night, we’re on a great 15-3 run with our player props. The NHL has provided us with a strong 8-game slate to get the weekend started. There’s even a featured matchup on ESPN to begin the night. To add to the great matchups, there’s a potential Stanley Cup Final preview in Dallas with the Stars hosting the New Jersey Devils, which of course everyone predicted coming into the season. However, that looks to be a hard-fought battle, so we’ve found value elsewhere in terms of skaters showing out.

Along with our player props, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action.

You can bet on these NHL player props at DraftKings Sportsbook, which has a huge range of sports betting markets available and a great new-customer offer where you can bet $5 and get $200 in bonus bets instantly! Click here to sign up to DraftKings.

Elias Lindholm over 0.5 assists (+115)

Before we dive into our second play, we have a couple of quick suggestions. Elias Pettersson of the Vancouver Canucks to record an assist or Lindholm’s overall point prop. Those come with more expensive prices, so we’re sticking with the great plus-money here. Lindholm and the Calgary Flames were embarrassed on home ice by the worst team in hockey – the Chicago Blackhawks – last night, losing 5-1. As one who has been a critic of the Flames’ inconsistency, there is one piece that is still holding this team together. That is Lindholm with his team-leading 42 points.

We’re rolling with his assist prop at the better price as he hasn’t been shooting nearly as much this season. He’s 6th on the team in that regard and only a handful of shots above the next 3 skaters. Similarly, he had just 1 shot on goal last night. He and the Flames will be looking to get hot again in Seattle against the Kraken tonight. They’ve faced them twice already this season, with Lindholm having at least an assist in each matchup and 3 overall. Backing anyone on a team after such a bad loss can be tough, but he’s the leader of this team and should help them at least look competitive tonight.
