Goals have come at a premium in this series as there have been just 9 total goals scored in 12+ periods of play. With the Hurricanes’ season on the line and the Panthers looking to close out this series, the top players on each side should get plenty of ice time. Players get playoff reputations by coming through in big postseason moments. The Panthers have had plenty of those and are looking for at least 5 more. The Hurricanes have not had that big player moment in this series and are desperate for one. Regardless of who wins, look for a big name to have a big night. Below are a couple of my favorite player props in tonight’s Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Make sure you also check out our full Carolina Hurricanes vs Florida Panthers predictions.

Aleksander Barkov over 0.5 goals (+180)

Aleksander Barkov has been very steady on both sides of the puck in these playoffs. He had 6 points in 7 games against the Bruins, just 3 in 5 games against the Maple Leafs, but has bounced back with 3 points in 2 games against the Hurricanes. All in all, Barkov has 12 points in 15 games played this postseason with a +6 rating. That likely would not win the Conn Smythe should the Panthers win the Stanley Cup, but it is exactly what this team needs. This is a guy who shuts down opponents while also being a steady producer. Those kinds of players are extremely valuable in the playoffs and Barkov’s contributions have been huge so far in this series.

After playing just 6 shifts and 3:51 of ice time in Game 3, Barkov was removed from the game but is expected to play in Game 4. In a series so far where goals have been a rarity, Barkov has 2 goals and an assist on the Panthers’ 6 total goals scored. This is a huge matchup and big players typically come through in big games. Barkov has as good of a chance as any Panthers player to be in the mix on Wednesday and odds of +180 look too good to pass up. Barkov had 23 goals and 78 points in 68 games played this season. His career track record speaks for itself and he will be motivated to lead the Panthers to the Stanley Cup Finals.

Sebastian Aho over 0.5 points (-155)

Something has to give for the Hurricanes if they are going to extend their season. They put up some lopsided numbers in the first 2 series, but have gone quiet in the Conference Finals. They can’t average 1 goal scored per game and expect to win and they know that. Of their 3 goals scored in 3 games, Sebastian Aho has an assist on 2 of those goals in Game 1 and Game 2. He also played over 20 minutes in Game 3 and had 5 shots on goal. If Carolina can muster up any offense on Wednesday, Aho will likely be involved. Although he has been quiet, he has been one of Carolina’s only sparks. The Hurricanes do not have a choice but to produce in Game 4. Sebastian Aho is the most likely on the team to be a factor in the production.

The top line of the Hurricanes has been the sole source of the aforementioned lackluster production. Nonetheless, they are not getting much support. Sebastian Aho centers Carolina’s first line in between Seth Jarvis and Stefan Noesen. That line has combined 2 goals and 4 assists on the 3 total team goals in this series. They will continue to log the most ice time in the hopes of getting the most looks at high percentage chances. Even if the Hurricanes can’t pull this one off it will not be for a lack of effort or opportunity for their top line. Look for Aho to be a factor in Game 4.
