There is still plenty to shake out with a week and a half left in the NHL’s regular season. Every day the games get more important and feel more like playoff hockey. Even most of the teams that have clinched are still vying for higher seeds and home-ice advantage. This loaded 11-game slate should not disappoint. Matthew Tkachuk over 1.5 points (+100)
In the first season since blockbuster trade that sent Jonathan Huberdeau among others to the Flames and Matthew Tkachuk to the Panthers, it is really looking like Florida won the trade. Tkachuk has been better than even the Panthers’ staff expected. With 102 points in 74 games, he leads the team and ranks 5th in the NHL. While Florida does have players remaining from its Presidents’ Trophy winning team last season, Tkachuk has largely willed them to within a point of a playoff spot. Considering how valuable a win would be tonight, expect to see Tkachuk logging significant minutes. He has 5 points in 3 games against the Sabres this season, and today he has a great opportunity to pad those stats.
Tkachuk’s pedigree is well noted. But from a pure matchup standpoint, this plus-money for him to log 2+ points is great value. The Panthers score the 5th-most goals in the NHL and face a Sabres team that ranks 26th in the league in goals allowed per game. The matchup is similar for Buffalo. The Sabres score the 3rd-most goals per game in the NHL while the Panthers rank 23rd in goal prevention. This matchup has all the makings of a high-scoring game and recent trends reinforce the likelihood of the over. If this is going to be a 60-minute shootout, the chances are very good that Tkachuk will be right in the middle of the action.

Mitch Marner anytime goal scorer (+120)
Mitch Marner got a couple of maintenance days from Toronto head coach Sheldon Keefe and is set to return to Tuesday after missing Sunday’s game. Marner leads the Maple Leafs with 95 points in 75 games. He is 13 points clear of the team’s next-best point producer. He has 4 points in 2 games against the Blue Jackets this season, which is far from surprising considering how much of a pushover Columbus is this season. With the Leafs looking to fine-tune and go into the playoffs hot, they should not take their foot off the gas for this one. A Toronto win wouldn’t be the worst thing for Columbus either, as it would get them closer to that coveted #1 overall draft pick this summer. The Leafs should roll in this game.
If this game script goes anything like the line indicates, Toronto should run up the score. That being the case, Marner will likely be a key contributor for a 3rd consecutive time against the Blue Jackets. He will likely return to the top line with Auston Matthews and Calle Jarnkrok, as well as the top power-play unit. At any time, Marner is going to be on the ice with some combination of Matthews, Jarnkrok, John Tavares and William Nylander among other strong Leafs players. Whenever those guys are on the ice is a good chance for goals. Toronto has a favorable matchup and Marner is sitting at 28 goals looking for his second straight 30-goal season. This plus-money for him to score is too good to pass up.
