Jack Eichel over 0.5 goals (+140)

In Jack Eichel’s 8th season in the NHL, the former 2nd-overall draft pick finally gets a crack at the playoffs. That alone is reason enough why he will have some extra pep in his step tonight. Eichel ended the regular season on a 9-game point streak and has been rolling since the all-star break. Since February 9, Eichel collected 32 points in 28 games. This is a dangerous player who enters his first playoffs feeling very good about where his game is. It also does not hurt that the Golden Knights are one of the best teams in the Western Conference, which they won. If they, along with Colorado and Edmonton, are what their record says they are, then that means Vegas is the best team in the West. The Golden Knights are playing great hockey and Eichel is right in the thick of it.

Eichel has logged over 20 minutes of ice time in 4 of his last 6 games. In playoff games, if the bench gets shortened because they need their best players out there, Eichel will get even more ice time. He is the top-line center between Stanley Cup winner Ivan Barbashev and team goal leader Jonathan Marchessault. Eichel is also on the top power play with Barbashev, Chandler Stephenson, Alex Pietrangelo and Mark Stone (game-time decision). Eichel is one of the best players on the better team in this game, who happens to be in great form, plays with very good players, and has the best value of any player in this game to score.

Jordan Eberle over 0.5 points (+120)

Jordan Eberle has been a very steady veteran presence for the Kraken. He played all 82 games this season and is the longest-tenured NHL player on the roster. In the first playoff game in the history of a franchise facing the reigning Stanley Cup champions, look for the veteran to make his presence known. It could be in the form of a big hit, mucking it up in the corners, some big blocked shots or, of course, producing offensively. Regardless, in big games, the veterans typically know how to lead the way. Although he is no spring chicken, Eberle collected his 8th 20-goal season in the NHL and was 3rd on the team in points. That’s not bad considering the Kraken scored the 4th-most goals in the league this season.

Eberle skates on Seattle’s top line with Calder Trophy candidate Matty Beniers and team-leading scorer Jared McCann. Along with Stanley Cup-winning defensemen Vince Dunn, who had 64 points in 81 games, as well as seasoned veteran defensemen Justin Schultz and Adam Larsson, this Kraken team is very balanced and will not be a pushover. Although the Kraken don’t have the top-end horses the Avalanche have, Seattle scored more goals overall than Colorado and scored the most goals 5 on 5 in the NHL. They will punch back at the Avs and Eberle should be right in the mix. Getting +120 odds for a stalwart like Jordan Eberle just to get on the scoresheet in a big game is another bet that has very good value.
