Ryan O’Reilly over 0.5 points (-110)

Ryan O’Reilly missed a little over a month due to injury, but he is back at the most important time of the year. That is big news for the Maple Leafs considering his caliber and pedigree. In 3 games since returning, he has 3 points. With just 2 games remaining in the regular season, O’Reilly will look to build on that and get into top form entering the playoffs. Tonight Toronto plays its upcoming first-round matchup, Tampa. The Lightning bounced the Maple Leafs in the first round last year, so Toronto would love nothing more than to set the tone tonight in preparation of returning the favor. In what will feel like a playoff game, O’Reilly is an extremely reliable center and has the playoff pedigree. Look for him to be a factor tonight.

In addition to reliability and pedigree, O’Reilly is centering the second line with William Nylander and John Tavares. That is an unbelievably talented line. O’Reilly is also on the Leafs’ top power play with Tavares, Mitch Marner, Auston Matthews and Morgan Reilly. Toronto traded for O’Reilly at the deadline for this exact type of game and this time of year. He is put into situations to succeed. The Lightning have 3 wins in their last 10 games and may be a bit vulnerable right now. Toronto will come out buzzing and give Tampa all they can handle. That being the case, there is a good chance that O’Reilly will be involved in assisting or scoring a goal.

Nathan MacKinnon anytime goal scorer (-105)

Both the Oilers and Avalanche really need tonight’s 2 points. Their playoff spots are clinched, but their seedings are not. There is still a chance for both of these teams to win their respective divisions and draw a wild-card opponent in the first round as well as locking up home ice. In another game that will feel like a playoff game, the big names usually show up to play. Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen have carried an injured Avalanche team all season. MacKinnon always shows up and will have to continue to do so with Cale Makar out, among other key players.

Despite missing time due to injury, MacKinnon has still managed to put up 39 goals and 107 points in 68 games. He has proved in playoff after playoff that he performs on the big stage and can will his team to a win. He has 7 goals in his last 5 games, and will face an Oilers team that ranks 18th in the NHL in goals allowed per game. Their penalty kill is also below average at 19th in the league. Edmonton is usually successful at scoring in bunches and is the top-ranked team in goalscoring in the NHL. The over has hit in the last 5 Avs games as they can play that style too. If the superstars on both teams show up to play and get on the board, this should be a high-scoring game and MacKinnon can be a key contributor.
