I've been a capper since my love for sports met my proficiency with numbers and math. The NFL and NCAAF have always been my first loves, followed by the NHL. Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. Following two Game 7s on Sunday night, we have the very last matchup of the first round of the 2023 Stanley Cup playoffs on Monday night with the Rangers and Devils wrapping things up. It has been a roller coaster of a series, to say the least. After each team won back-to-back games to tie things up 2-2, they have since traded blows again. Now the series heads back to New Jersey for the right to advance to the second round.

With such a back-and-forth series, it can cause plenty of hesitation in terms of picking a winner. Therefore, we have our top NHL player prop pick for this all-important Game 7.

Along with our player props, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action.

Artemi Panarin, NYR, Over 0.5 assists (+115)

There is an abundance of elite skaters to target in this matchup. Whether it be youngster Jack Hughes of the Devils or future Hall of Famer Patrick Kane of the Rangers, there is talent everywhere on the ice. I considered Kane for Monday’s Game 7, but his usage the last 2 games has been strange. His ice time has decreased considerably, and he wasn’t on the first power play unit in Game 6. Instead, I am focusing on his former teammate on the Chicago Blackhawks. Kane and Panarin are now reunited, and their connection looks as smooth as ever.

Along with that, Panarin has other elite goal-scorers to assist like Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider. In fact, Kreider is tied for the 2nd-most goals in the 2023 Stanley Cup playoffs with 6 so far. Admittedly, Panarin hasn’t had his best series — but he is simply too talented to let that sway me away from this play. He has come through for us several times this season alone, which isn’t surprising looking at his numbers. Panarin has 92 points in 2023, with 63 of them being assists. He also opened up this series with 2 helpers. That was also in New Jersey and with Game 7 headed back there, Panarin should end the series the same way he started it.
