Monday in the NHL brought a few upsets as the juggernaut Bruins, Rangers and Golden Knights all lost to significantly inferior opponents. It just goes to show that in the NHL anything can happen on any given night. Tuesday’s slate follows that with 10 games including a few heavyweight, can’t-miss bouts in Panthers-Maple Leafs, Stars-Jets and Golden Knights-Oilers. Elsewhere, Minnesota’s new head coach John Hynes will debut as the Wild look to turn their season around.

The Islanders have been a little hit-and-miss lately as they have won 3 of their last 4 games, but those are their only 3 wins in their last 11. They have either scored or allowed 4+ goals in 9 of those 11 games. A volatile Islanders team visiting an offensively strong Devils team is a good recipe for the overs trend to continue.
St. Louis Blues ML over Minnesota Wild (+136)
The Blues have been a confusing team this season, but they are 11-8-1 and their 23 points have them in the first wild-card spot 20 games in. The Wild are 5-10-4 and their 14 points are the 3rd-fewest in the Western Conference. I’ll take these plus-money odds for the Blues to win outright.
St. Louis has won 8 out of its last 12 games and is 14-6 in the last 20 head-to-head games against Minnesota. The Wild, meanwhile, are winless in their last 7 and just fired head coach Dean Evason. Could a new coach and being at home push them over the edge and get them back in the win column? Sure. But this +136 for the team that has performed far better this season is good value.
Vancouver Canucks -1.5 over Anaheim Ducks (+100)
The Ducks have come back down to earth a little bit after their very strong start to the season. They have now lost 6 straight games and in ugly fashion. The Ducks have been outscored by a total of 30-11 during their 6-game losing streak. That is an average final of 5.00-1.83 in favor of the Ducks’ opponents.
The Canucks have also come back down a little, but they are still the far better team in this matchup and have not faltered as much as Anaheim. Vancouver still sits 4th in the Western Conference, scores the most goals per game in the NHL and allows the 4th-fewest. They have a great chance to run up the score at plus-money tonight.
