Monday’s NHL slate delivered in a big way. We had 10 games on the docket that began in the afternoon and went all through the night, and brought a little bit of everything, including a 17-goal game! Tuesday is a great follow-up with 8 games on tap, including a couple of heavyweight battles. Highlighting this slate will be Stars vs Rangers at 7:00 pm ET, followed by the Canucks vs Avalanche at 9:00 pm ET. This should be yet another great night of hockey, and to add some extra spice, I’ve pieced together a 3-leg NHL parlay at +1053 odds! Let’s dive in, but make sure you also read our NHL predictions for today’s action.
NHL Parlay Picks (2/20)
Panthers -1.5 & Over 6.5 (+216)
Canucks vs Avalanche Over 6.5 (-115)
Kings -1.5 (-105)
NHL parlay odds: +1053
Florida Panthers -1.5 over Ottawa Senators & Over 6.5 (+216)
The Panthers have won 9 of their last 10 games, including 5 straight. In their current 5-game winning streak, Florida has a +20 goal differential, which is an average win by 4 goals. During that stretch, they only played one opponent that isn’t in a playoff spot or in contention. The Panthers are getting the job done right now with authority and against both good and bad teams.
A major part of that goal differential has been their scoring ability, with the Panthers finding the net 26 times in their last 5 games. They should do their part in contributing to a high total. Ottawa meanwhile has been in decent offensive form themselves. The Senators rank in the top 10 in the NHL in goals scored per game. Their 30th-ranked goal prevention has been their Achilles heel. The combination of strong goalscoring and weak goal-prevention is a good recipe for a high total.
Vancouver Canucks vs Colorado Avalanche Over 6.5 (-115)
This game should feature some can’t-miss action. These are a couple of juggernaut teams led by juggernaut offenses. The Canucks and Avalanche rank 2nd and 3rd respectively in the NHL in goals scored per game. These teams have played once this season in a game that featured 7 goals. This matchup has a good chance to bring another high total.
The over has hit in 4 of Vancouver’s last 6 games, as well as in 5 out of Colorado’s last 6 games. Their combined over/under record this season is 66-42-4, including 33-19-4 combining Avalanche home games and Canucks road games. The Canucks just participated in a 17-goal thriller where they lost 10-7 to the Wild. Their offense is firing but their defense is struggling, and Colorado should be poised to take advantage. The pure matchup and recent trends look good for another high total.
Los Angeles Kings -1.5 over Columbus Blue Jackets (-105)
The Kings had a brutal January but have potentially found something recently. They enter this game having won 5 of their last 6 games. During that stretch, the Kings beat the Predators, Oilers, Devils, Bruins and Penguins — a run of very solid opponents. They get a very favorable matchup in this one to keep the momentum rolling.
The Blue Jackets have dropped 14 of their last 20 games. They are in the cellar of the Eastern Conference and would be a favorable matchup against most teams in the NHL. The Kings are already the better team. They should come out with added urgency to make a statement and collect the 2 points they need to keep pace in the West.
